@Iggge the usual. Fixing old bugs, introducing new ones, you know, the regular software dev things.
This comment actually made my day, thanks!
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel hahaha

@tomasbartko I hope the original comment was a joke but want to remind everyone that human developers work hard and their priorities are governed by Suunto. I would imagine they take pride in their work. When you post imagine how you might feel reading the posts. This is called empathy. There are Suunto employees here that are trying to help. Criticism is great but best if non-personal and not judgemental.
-
@Brad_Olwin I’ll add /s next time so it’s clear
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel @Łukasz-Szmigiel FWIW, I took this as a joke and maybe dose of realism
And I do appreciate the efforts of the developers, as well and Brad, Egika, et al to keep discussion civil, and to keep the forums from descending into chaos.
-
@DrSilverthorn indeed.
It’s software. You fix known bugs, develop new features and introduce new bugs. In the process it gets better (hopefully) but essentially that’s that.
Suunto has shown that the software is evolving in good direction and I’m pretty confident about the quality and feature set of upcoming software updates.
It’s just that… Life doesn’t revolve around firmware

Exactly statement of fact! One reason why Suunto has field testers… we have had some unexpected issues introduced with new firmware. I always have a watch running production firmware!

@Brad_Olwin To be honest I don’t see how the original post was personal or judgemental. I took it as an actually good joke, and I believe others too. I also work in IT, so I know how difficult it is to develop software. And I am sure others know that too.
-
@tomasbartko that is the problem with written communication. You never know who is reading it in which way. Emojis can help sometimes…
-
@Egika That’s a valid point.
-
Man said a joke but few fanboys took it so real. I personally laugh at his post, becouse devs work is not so easy, every repairing one thing could create another one.
-
@Tami999 I agree. As someone who worked for 12 years on embedded devices, that’s a reality. If you are a dev, you get it. I certainly do and did.
-
-
I really want Suunto to add a functionality that allow us to use the GPS on the watch only that records where I have been in the Map, and not only when using POI or in training mode.
-
@Iggge
Could you clarify?
Recording means “activity”.
Or do you mean you would like a record just with one point? -

Also another small bug:
I don’t get notifications for reaching my daily goals, weekly recap on Sunday evening etc.
I have done soft and hard reset (told by Suunto support), but still doesn’t work.
Maybe one of those here in the forum with “connections” to Suunto can report it, if not already done.
Thank you
Just a small update for the above mentioned “bug”:
Since the release of the Update back in November 2023, I switched to that new watch face, where HRV, CTL etc. are shown below the time. Since then I didn’t get the notifications for daily goals and the weekly recap (storm alert worked fine).
Yesterday afternoon, I decided to switch back to the “Vertical” watch face (with the altimeter curve at the bottom), and in the evening, I got the notifications for reaching my daily goals.
So it seems it has to do with the watch faces. I will check further, by keeping the Vertical watch face until the end of that week and then switch back again (maybe :-)) to the “newer” watch face.
