Nightly HRV not measuring
-
Screenshots of the Widget, Tuesday 52ms, since then no reading of HRV despite sleep tracking on, resting heart rate and O2 Saturation during the night all recorded and reported…
-
@Torsten-Kessler this is strange.
Have you tried resetting the watch and see if this helps? -
@Egika You mean soft reset, such as upper button 12s? Yes, I did that, no change in behaviour.
To my understanding HRV measurements via OHR is more demanding than simply heart rate. Can it be, that the quality of readings is just not reliable enough for the software algorithm to report it as result?
Like when you get the error message: " O2 Saturation could not be detected, please try again"…
-
@Torsten-Kessler very well possible… On the other hand sleeping time is the best time to measure anything HR related with the optical sensor.
Does your arm or watch wearing style have anything unusual to them that could influence the measurement? -
@Egika Not anything I can think of, I tried both sides left and right, normal position 2cm above the wrist, nothing else on the wrist, no tatoos, eg. HR and O2sat reads just fine, I got good HRV readings in the same position with Garmin FRs, maybe I do a hard reset and start from scratch…
-
@Torsten-Kessler Just to double check the HRV button is toggled on and you have set Sleep times. I know you stated this in the first post but I have not had HRV on any of the new watches fail completely yet.
-
@Brad_Olwin HRV Button is toggled on, Sleep Times Set to 23.00-06.00, did. a hard reset in the Menu yesterday, and turned everything on again, still no HRV Value this Morning, guess my wrist is Not made for the Race…
-
@Torsten-Kessler I doubt it, there is no reason it should not work. I would contact support if this fails after the update on Monday.
-
@Torsten-Kessler Does the watch detect your night sleep ok?
I am asking because I had one night where my sleep wasn’t detected correctly (only 1h was detected and it was labeled as a nap) and that night subsequently didn’t have any HRV reading either.
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen yes, always above 6hs of sleep reported including resting Heart rate, O2Saturation, Deep and light phases, REM, just no value for HRV, except the First Night, where it was 52ms…
-
Im just getting a pretty wonky HRV value. Even though my sleep score is good, and other data says Im recovered and good to train, my first nights sleep had an HRV of 10ms, and the second night and HRV value of 15ms. Not sure that is even possible?
-
Hi,
Exactly the same problem here, over the past 60 days, I just got 5 values, and nothing the rest of the time.
Did you succeed to make it work ? -
Hi, does somebody know the requirements of the HRV Tracking? I have Month with HRV Data, but from time to Time i don’t get a Value. For example Last Night. I got all the Sleep data, and nightly hr. But no HRV. I did everything the Same Like the Nights before. My HRV is between 94-114. in the last Time often lower , because i was stressed and ill. Sometimes higher.
Ohne thought of me is, that maybe there is a Range where no Value is calculated? -
Update. One more Week with HRV data in the Book, but no Value Last Night. I wore the Watch the Same as the last Nights. Got Perfect Sleep and hr Tracking the whole Night. But no HRV. Can somebody help ne or have an explanation why i don‘t get HRV from Time to Time ? Maybe the Value is to high and because of that was Not tracked?

Some thoughts regarding HRV.
Initially, I get almost no value during the first two months.
I tried hard and soft reset several times , no effect, changent wrist, no effect.
I started to get values when coming back from a trek in Nepal, but at the same time there was a software update, so difficult to conclude.
Since, I am getting values relatively regularly, but not always.
Since 1 week, temperature is going quite hot where I live, and again no value for 1 week, not sure if this is related.
Also I have been told that my heartbeat is very soft, maybe the watch is unable to correctly detect peaks of heartbeat… ?That said, heartbeat frequency looks OK for me, either at wrist or with the Suunto smartbelt, but HRV measure is more complicated than simply heartbeat measure.
Interested to know if you were able to notice relations between lack of HRV and changes in your environment…

@luke55 I do also have problems with HRV measurements on a regular base… Sometimes it works for a few days, then one or two days no measurement.
At the beginning I got no values at all for HRV but HR and sleep was working fine.
After I adjusted the min HR in my personal settings of the watch to the lowest value within a few days at night (as described on suunto homepage) I got measurements most of the time with a one or two nights with no value as described above.Don’t know if this really correlates but this was the only change I did and it worked for me/my watch.
My min HR is also quite low at night with values below 40 and maybe the watch struggles because of this…

Randomly the watch doesn’t track sleep. Now two days in a row. Soft reset did nothing.
Worked fine for months before this, mostly, with only at most single nights not tracked.
The HR sensor also is stubborn on latest version after periods of inactivity. Re-toggling of sensor to On position brings it back to life.
Hopefully more robust software in next update or this watch is a warranty return.
