Sleep tracking bug ?

@Mauerwegler don’t know. I am not Suunto…

I know. But could you make them aware of our confusion? Janne who wrote https://www.suunto.com/de-de/sports/News-Articles-container-page/Figure-out-your-training-zones-and-supercharge-your-fitness/ probably can advice.
-
@Mauerwegler actually I have done so in January already…
There is this older read about resting HR here: https://www.suunto.com/de-de/sports/News-Articles-container-page/know-your-resting-and-max-heart-rates/?category=SuuntoTri
It advises to measure HR right after waking up - but maybe is a little outdated…
And again - I repeat myself: the forum has come to the conclusion that resting HR is actually resting HR as it says. Everything works well with this setup.
-
I had a great sleep last night, out cold by ten, woke up at 6.40. Suunto claimed I’d slept for 2.38
-
@David-l I have the same problem every night. Sleeping hours in SA have gone down by 2 to 3 hours each night, since I have the Race. This is definitely wrong. There might be room for some optimisations
-
@wmichi sleep tracking is spot on for me. Very impressed!
-
@Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud yes for me too… But @wmichi perhaps you can try wearing it on your other wrist? I just propose this, because I had a little scratch on my skin just beneath the watch buckle, so I wore the race on the other arm that night and sleep tracking was not correct as usual. Perhaps I did not wear the watch tight enough or it was just a bad position, but changing it back the next night resulted in correct sleep tracking again
-
@ChrisA I wear it pretty much the same way as the Vertical. Snug but not uncomfortable fit, no scratches on the skin, no tattoos, hair shaved under the watch. I even tried it on my other hand - same result. The SV pretty much every night nailed start and end of sleep times. My resting HR is also set to a higher value than my average minimum HR during sleep.
The last 7 days (by coincidence since I have the Race) I went late to bed and my HR took longer to drop, maybe this can cause these issues. Also my HRV is lower than usual in the last 7 days (training stress + a 4 year old kid in hardcore defiance phase). Probably Suunto’s algorithm misinterprets not-so-good-sleep at the beginning of the sleep time as being awake. But that’s just the problem with recognising the start of sleep. In 3 out of 7 nights, the watch thought I got up at 5:00, while I was in coma at that time and I actually woke up at 7:30.
Difficult to tell what could be the reason for my bad results. Maybe I should try some yoga and breathing exercises.

@wmichi Ah I see you already switched sides - was just a thought. Ah… and I know kids can be hard sometimes . While I would love to say it only gets better, I have a 15 year old young lady here, whose “defiance” sometimes is hard to bear too , but it’s really getting better - my 21 year old is a real pleasure again
-
@ChrisA I’ve heard boys can be difficult in the toddler age, but it’s easier with them in puberty, and with girls it’s the other way around. Ok, boys get drunk and do stupid things. But hey, I can handle that, I was also stupid und drunk This doesn’t solve my ultra high important issue with sleep tracking, but it’s comforting to hear, that with kids somehow everyone is in the same boat.

I am just hopping on the sleep tracking issue with my Suunto Race. The sleep tracking worked great for the first two weeks, then completely stopped. I didn’t change any settings. I have restarted the watch and after three days of no sleep tracking, did a factory reset yesterday. Still no sleep tracking last night. Somehow it is still tracking my naps though. Kind of frustrated, not sure if I should return the watch or not, I really like it. I contacted Suunto support this morning and they stated it is a known bug and a fix is coming soon. Anybody else having a similar issue or just my device?
-
@mgomes78 More or less the same issue, bought the watch, a week ago. Worked the first 2 nights, and then nothing. I did the reset, and lower the HR, but still nothing… Quite frustrating as I moved from the Peak Pro which worked just fined to the Race hoping for better performances…

Hi all,
bought a SR a month ago, all’s gone right, no major problems with the old firmware as well (updated it as soon as it’s been released, though).
Anyway, today is the first day that sleep has not been tracked; haven’t changed any parameters at all, this function worked quite well until yesterday. -
@SwissCheese Alright, so I increased my rest HR at 70 and now it seems to finally work !
-
well, this morning I got the sleep tracking again; it showed up after a while, as when I woke up it stated “no sleep tracking”.
This occurred a couple of times since when I’ve been using this function. -
@fabula670 the watch needs to detect you are really awake before showing you the message and make the data available in the widget. So it is normal if you wake up and still see “no sleep tracked” for few minutes, before the algorithm decides that you are probably not going to bed again.
What is not normal is if after a long time, or even at the end of the day, you still have “no sleep tracked”.
-
Thanks for the info, Isazi; and yes, Wednesday remains blank regarding the sleep tracking.
-
@SwissCheese Well, false alert… it doesn’t work anymore… but for some reasons it tracked a nap yesterday after deactivated the VFC… but even with that, it didn’t track my night sleep… Don’t know what else I can do…
-
@mgomes78 I have had the exact same thing happen. Have you had any luck getting it to work? I am wondering what to do as well.
-
This is still a problem. I have the Race and the Vertical - both did not track sleep or measure HRV.
S. Vertical was replaced with a new one (by a service center in Finland) and since then it has been working properly.
Race shows 50% resources every morning and does not show (despite the appropriate sleep tracking setting) sleep data, neither HRV nor REM. My father’s S. Vertical had a similar failure twice in a row (!), the first time watch was replaced, after the replacement, sleep tracking and HRV worked for about 2 weeks, it no longer works despite many restarts. This time, instead of repairing Suunto, my father bought Garmin Tactix 7 Pro - he probably won’t go back to Suunto.
Like you all - as a fan of the brand and ascetic solutions, I am extremely disappointed with the failures. All my inc. suunto 9 baro tit. (from the first series), 9 pro, Vertical and Race crashed. Race hasn’t been sent back for repair yet, I’m still under the illusion that an update will solve the problem, it’s hard for me to believe that it’s a hardware failure.
