Disappointing launch
-
@General_Witt As I mentioned earlier, ordered on launch day, no emails, no communication, nothing. No indication of anything. Strange.
-
@colinmacdon I ordered mine 2 days ago directly from Suunto site (Titanium version) and got it today, 48 hours later. That’s my experience from Italy.
-
@colinmacdon Same boat and then mysteriously I received a notification in my UPS app that a shipment was coming to me. I’m in the US and not sure where you are but it might be worth a shot to check UPS site. I’ve checked the Global E site several times (used to be who we received updates from for Suunto) and that shows no updates since I ordered the watch. As a back up plan (not knowing Suunto actually shipped the first watch) I did order another Race from Amazon US which will arrive 10/28. I’d recommend US customers to order directly from Amazon. As of today prime members can have the Titanium by 10/28.
-
@colinmacdon I ordered mine today, DHL has confirmed delivery tomorrow!
-
@colinmacdon hey, so I’m also from Canada and ordered a Ti version on launch day. This morning I chatted with support for the 3rd time and they couldn’t tell me when the order would be shipped.
The thing is, I just received an email from UPS saying an order is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow from Suunto. The tracking number in that email shows it was shipped 2 days ago from Finland. I don’t know if you have a UPS My Choice account, but it might be worth it to check if you wanna be sure.
-
@FoleyRose Just chatted with support 3rd time as well. I mentioned that others have received an apology email, etc. with the option of small re-imbursement or an accessory. And while I am not specifically looking for that (would be nice though :), they have mentioned all 3 chat sessions that I will receive some kind of email.
Their update was: “You should receive it then, I am not able to provide the tracking information as it is not available for me, but also can escalate the case to the relevant department and request for it. As soon as I receive the reply, I will contact you via email”
edit: checked the UPS My Choice, and wouldn’t you know…delivery from Suunto scheduled for tomorrow. Mystery solved. Very strange ordering experience.
-
@colinmacdon there you go. It’s baffling to me that their support agents don’t even know if an order has been shipped.
-
@FoleyRose have you read the above FB comment I posted here? I think it explains those shipped-before-acknowledged situation in north America
-
@Egika yes I have, but he mentions the black model specifically. That might have been a mistake though.

When wearing the watch normally, you cannot do push-ups in it because the crown presses against the wrist, which activates the screen and then the settings. There is no option to block this. There is also no night mode for the display, either it is on all the time - no sense, or the gesture - no sense. You can check the time by clicking the button, but then the screen wakes up completely and lights up for about a minute. Does anyone have similar observations? There are some features that can be added in this software but no one has been doing it for a long time.
-
@Plenuscausa
“for a long time” is relative IMO.
if you have set raise to wake correctly you can see the time, but you see the full watchface only if full wake is activated.
when DND is active the watch requires button press, which is by purpose and I guess a lot of people appreciate not being blinded by the display in DND mode.we can always collect suggestions here. in the end it’s a product management decision

Come on, you can temporarily move the watch to your left hand while doing the pushups, or wear a Suunto Smart HR belt with built in memory which syncs your heart rate to SR when the activity is over.
It’s quite astonishing that no-one has done any new features to a watch that was released two weeks ago.
Such a disappointing launch. Get real!

@BrunoH
… despite that… when I’m doing pushups, I usually do them within a workout and then it is possible to lock the buttons -

I set the sleep time to 8-5:40 and the same way I set the do not disturb mode to 8-5:40. Now, in fact, the watch does not display anything, but when you press the button, the full dial lights up and hurts your eyes. I have “display only” enabled. Is there anything else I need to change? -
@Plenuscausa
assuming it is past 8pm in your timezone now, it works as intended.
DND 8pm - 5:40am, display remains off
outside of DND you should see the minimalist time only -

When buying Race, I wanted to be its user, not a tester. It is amazing that no one has thought about the lace, which can be disturbing in many cases. In my opinion, the crown should be excluded from the function of waking up the watch.

… despite that… when I’m doing pushups, I usually do them within a workout and then it is possible to lock the buttonsCorrect. I know that. However, to do 50 push-ups, I do not need to record the exercise. When the screen is off, the crown should be inactive. In addition, there are many other situations in which the lace may turn into something you didn’t want. In many situations you may accidentally press it.
-
@Plenuscausa
don’t worry, the Race was tested for several months.
but it seems that the product’s design and functionality doesn’t match your expectations?
it is not faulty it works as designed -
@Plenuscausa I’m not sure what you mean by “normally” but my “normal” way of wearing the watch is two fingers from the wrist bone (which is the common recommendation).
There are no problems for me with push-ups and the crown when wearing it like this. This also gives more consistent OHR readings.
