Sorry, but that’s another simplistic response. Just because they aim to make money, doesn’t mean that they will. Not everything works, otherwise every company is a success. Suunto’s development plan and product delivery is not intended as a personal slight to anyone on this forum, and I’m tired of reading comments from people that seem to believe that it is.
-
@Egika I think that this poor 9PP rattling falls into a bigger bucket of user personalization related issues that are not being addressed (although with some exceptions, I have to admit).
Which is interesting as it seems that Suunto has always been about long-lasting products and their quality. Or was it just my impression?
@wakarimasen, since you’ve mentioned profits: There are people who either returned the watch entirely or sent it to repairs as, apparently, something is rattling inside the premium, well-built sports watch, which shouldn’t happen. Doesn’t that generate losses for the company? Both at the point of sales and in future - as I’m not sure if it’s building a strong image of a company dedicated to making long-lasting, well-designed products.
Can you imagine buying a new car in the same price / quality segment as 9PP is only to find out that there’s rattle coming from under the hood whenever the engine’s revving?

I wouldn’t disagree with you. However, my point is that Suunto are aiming for things with their product development, and will not get everything right. They then have the dilemma of (1) spend resources to fix a problem or (2) spend the same resources elsewhere to enable other developments with the intentions of improving market share. This balancing act goes on every day, in every company, in every industry throughout the world. Getting something wrong is not an intentional act!
What I should have said earlier is that I have also been disappointed by Suunto recently, but accept that it’s nothing personal, which is (sorry to say it) how some people on this forum react, and makes for very tiring reading. Every has the liberty of voting with their wallets and buying a product from another supplier (Corus, Polar or Garmin etc.) which I have actually done. However, I still like the Suunto products which I have kept and will not endlessly trawl the forum just looking for opportunities to ‘pile on’ to someone else voicing a grievance.
Apologies again if I offend anyone - I really don’t mean to. I just wish people would pursue a route that makes them happier, not more disaffected.

@wakarimasen I get it and I agree.
What troubles me, however, is not the vibration itself as an isolated issue, but rather a trend of not fixing things that went wrong (and as you’ve pointed out - it happens everywhere and is normal) that could be fixed with software.
For example, it’s been, like, four years since we had VO2max estimation going bonkers after just one lazy hike rendering this feature useless. And it’s understandable that the root of the issue won’t get fixed easily, as Suunto is using an external algorithm. But for all this time, a simple fix would be a switch allowing the user to turn off the estimation for particular activity.

@freeheeler everyone has their use cases and in my case hardly.

I get a lot of these arguments that are self-fulfilling personal biases and my point has always been to try to get a point across that highlights basic changes. If Suunto is happy to continue with the status quo and is happy with the performance, so be it. I too can then stop wasting my time trying to help them improve.

@altcmd
I understand and I’ve voted, too.
my wife mutes notification most of the time because of it.
all the arguments have been raised in the last couple of hours that I understand and agree with from both perspectives -

Dear Suunto 9PP developers, please fix the vibration! Make it possible to select a vibration like a countdown (timer from 10 to 1 second) for notifications. All my familiar 9PP owners complain about the rattling terrible loud vibration! Please make it possible to select the vibration as on 9 peak (soft, silent, cool). We kindly ask you to fix this.

@Евгений-2 do not post the same message in multiple threads.

@isazi ok. I just want to spread this information, because this is a big problem for many users and have been writing a lot about it on the forum for a long time (vibration on suunto 9 peak pro). maybe you can tell me how to get information about our problems to the developers? Best regards, Evgenii

@Евгений-2 it is already known
