Multiple alarms
-
Hi, just playing with my new vertical since 10 days. It’s beautiful and worth the money but affected by some minor quirks which however are unacceptable for a watch of this cost and market placement.
No possibility for instance to set multiple alarms (i.e. a reminder alarm in addition to the wake up alarm) or the possibility to start at the same time the countdown and the stopwatch, functions usually available on any cheaper watch (not to mention Garmin or coros)… -
@Dante-Mclalla Agreed with this point. Hoping they fix this, along with the watch not being able to remember multiple sensors of one type.

@André-Faria I understand it may be a design decision, but that being said I hope Suunto reconsiders the multiple alarm thing along with the multiple sensor thing. I’ve seen a few comments on Vertical reviews where people would have considered buying the vertical, but now refuse to because of these small omissions. I’d like to see Suunto succeed. To sell more Verticals I think they should consider changing their decision around this, since presumably these changes would be a small thing to implement!

How can multiple alarms or other few things missing avoid people to buy a watch made for sport and adventure ? If those things miss too much, for me that meens people don’t need a sport watch. I’ve never used a single time alarm on my watch…
Don’t want to offense anyone with my comment, but Vertical (and other watches) are so awesome on lots of features !! -
@Tieutieu
I primary use my phone as alarm clock for multiple alarms.
but I use my watches as a backup in case I REALLY do not want to sleep in unintentionally… I don’t need multiple alarms on my wrist either -
@Tieutieu multiple alarms may come to use when needing for a nutrition alert (weirdly enough for an adventure watch, this function is not provided and therefore a manual alarm could solve this issue)…

Even if I don’t need such nutrition alarm at all, I’d rather think it is more interesting to use the dedicated apps
-
@Dante-Mclalla nutrition and hydration alerts are provided as S+ apps and guides. You can even create your own.

to start at the same time the countdown and the stopwatch,
I’m missing the use for this. What would you use it for ?
-
@freeheeler while I agree that this multiple alarm seems to be very minor omission, unfortunately op is also right. There are people who consider this a major omission, especially after seeing that coros actually carry it. In my country, Suunto main killer is actually not garmin, but coros. Many of current coros users are actually previously hardcore Suunto users, ,and yes few of them actually start to appreciate this multiple alarm feature that coros carry but Suunto miss out.
Don’t get me wrong. I love to see Suunto succeed. I myself am Suunto fans, but Unfortunately, at least here, Suunto reputation seriously takes a big hit downwards, due to missing out with competitors, to extent that the distributor keep changing hands because previous ones simply give up selling suunto
-
@Kk2n-Kk
if multiple alarm changes people’s mind, I’m pretty sure they were not happy before or did not see the benefit Suunto brings over other systems -
@sartoric not so often but sometimes I need both at the same time (i.e. calculating time spent on a case and using countdown for another activity like cooking pasta…!)
-
@freeheeler nobody changes his mind for the lack of multiple alarms but actually there is no reason not to introduce such possibility via firmware…
there are greater omissions which are leaving Suunto behind competition (sleep editing, HRV measurements, inaccuracy at detecting breaststroke style, etc.).
Coros, in the same price range, is more competitive and ensures a long term and responsive support, via continuous firmware, to its customers…that’s why I use both Suunto and coros… -
I agree on the multiple alarms thing. I actually use this on other watches quite often. Aside from a weekday wake-up alarm, I have a couple of other weekday alarms to remind me to do other things. The workaround with Suunto will be to use my phone for this. It was nice to have it on my watch directly though.
-
Well this thread is a good occasion I guess for me to test the alarm with the vertical.
So I have set it for tomorrow morning…I wish there was an icon/indication on the watchface telling me an alarm is on ! -
FWIW I would like the option of an hourly beep/chime, have asked for this back in the early days of the S9B but it never came and probably never will. No biggie. Multiple alarms would be nice but not a dealbreaker - set one on your watch and one on your phone. Solved
To say it’s ‘unacceptable’ is pretty funny, especially as it’s something so minor. I can’t believe people would actually refuse to buy a watch because of something like this… that’s like the true definition of stubborn right there
-
@freeheeler I use the (vibration only) alarm on my S9P to get up in the morning w/o waking up anybody, something I couldn‘t use my phone for. And it would just be convenient to be able to keep the weekdays alarm as is and then use a different one for weekends for example. But I agree this is not the feature that would make me switch watch models or brands…
-
I will love to have multiple alarms, and also the possibility to change the snooze period, but I’m not going to sell my watch for lacking those features.
I think, these kind of minor issues, are not deal breakers, but are daily frictions that after long time can make you not so happyHappy weekend!!!
