Sync speed of S9PP vs S9P
-
Editing sports modes of the S9P via Android app is often painfully slow, especially when entering the setup for the first time after the app was startet. But even after that, it’s too sluggish for my taste. Something I can live with, but don’t like it.
Is this better, faster, more responsive with S9PP?
That would be a selling point for me

@Simon Hi there. What is slow to you time-wise? I have a S9PP, and just went into the SA for first sync of the day and the sync took 20 seconds. Following that, to update my running profile sport mode took very little time - maybe 2 seconds to update/sync changes.

@mikekoski490 Thank you!! Yeah, 20 seconds is very slow for me. I guess, for a first sync, 2 seconds would very nice! So, looks like it’s about the same for S9P and S9PP.
At Suunto: As a software developer, I can’t understand the long first sync when opening the app. 20 seconds seems extreme. All the watch and app have to do, it to match a checksum. If the checksum is okay, there’s no need for any further data transfer. And this process can hardly take more than 1 second. If the checksum doesn’t match, a full sync can still be done. But that case should be very rare.

@Simon I know one of SA syncs I appreciate is updating ‘optimizing gps performance’ which saves time when I get to my destination to run or start up for a ride. I’ve had Garmin’s and Polars that take about the same amount of time if you select sync. I guess for me 20 seconds is ok and I usually do it in the mornings in the background - I may not be in as much of a hurry to work out as you lol.
