Watch beep and show message charging over and over when 99-100%
-
Hello, i want to ask if anyone experience this behavior.
Watch on charger, it normaly charge without problem, when it reach 99% after while watch beep and show message charging, than after few seconds 10-30s it beeps again and show message charging and this repeats over and over. I let it beep for few times than i disconected it from charger. Battery works fine, it is charged to 99% after disconecting from charger.
I would understand if it beeps every few tens of minutes or hours as battery on charger stop charging and 100% than drops to 99% and charges again, it is just disturbing when it beeps few time per minute.

@Tomas5 I’m not sure if this is intentional, but if it were it would be a good idea. Electronics shouldn’t stay plugged in any longer than they need to, and disconnecting the power once it reaches 99-100% (which are essentially the same value, true 100% is not possible to achieve - it’s a rounding matter) while alerting the user that it’s done charging and should be taken off sounds like a good idea.
-
@Spree is be surprised if it doesn’t automatically switch to trickle-charge once it has reached full SOC. Anything else sounds like something is not quite right.
-
There is no “fully charged” alert.
@Tomas5 : What was the power source used here for charging?
Mobile phone AC powered charger?
Power bank?
Computer USM port? The repeated message is indicating that the charging cycle was actually starting over and over. This could be from bad contacts between charger and watch, or something related to the power supply.

mputer US
It was charged using mobile phone charger, same like i used for Ambit 2S and for my Suunto 5. Non of them has this issue. Only new Suunto 5 Peak. I tried twice Suunto 5 Peak, both time same result, after reaching 100% it starts beeping with Charging message over and over, Suunto 5 charged just after that with same charger does not. Or better say Suunto 5 do this but only few times per hour as battery drops from 100% to 99% but it takes tens of minutes not just units of seconds.
It is not “full charged” message, it is message “Charging”. Watch reach 100%, it stops charging automaticaly, than it almost instantly (in just seconds) drops to 99% and it start charging againg and beep with message Charging, than it stops charging only after few seconds and againt drop to 99% and starts charging over and over. I don’t let charged watch on charger. But I hope no one in suunto expect I will sit next to my watch while charging only to disconnect it as soon as it get charged. It should had no problem to sit fully charged on charger for 5 - 10 minutes. But it beeps constantly over and over as crazy. Charging, No Charging, Charging, Notcharging …
Usually at least laptops, as soon as reach 100%, it stops charging, and it waits like that and starts charging again only when battery drops to 95% or similar. Not 100% 99% 100% 99% few times per minute.
-
@Spree It shouldn’t stay on charger, but I don’t thing people should serve devices, usually devices should serve to people. And I hope developers don’t expect that if watch are charging, your only task is to sit and wait so you can unplug watch as soon as it reach 100%. I wouldn’t doub any alert that watch are charged every few minutes. But not instant beeping, Charging, Charging again, Charging, Charging again … multiple times per minute.

@Egika yes it is strange. I hope it is not faulty unit and some multiple charge / discharge will solve it. But I struggle if to return watch in 14 day period or just wait if it will solve and than solve lengthy waranty reparis
-
I tried to ask seller, suunto.sk they told me to contact official service in Czech Republic H.S.H Service, and they told me it would be better to send watch to them for check. So I struggle even more if return it or sent to service. Absolutely new watch
-
@Tomas5 Have you actually tried different charger? (if yes, then sorry for this question, there’s so much text I might have missed that)…
-
@inkognito yes first time it was samsung charger and different cable (i didn’t mention that) but next time exactly for that reason i tried charger and cable i use for charging my S5 everytime.
-
@Tomas5 i was hoping that i am not only one with bad luck. That someone will say “yes i had same, just few full charge discharge cycles and it will desapear”
-
@Tomas5 I’d say contact customer support ASAP. I’d expect you should get a replacement if the watch is brand new and you’ve only had it a few days. It’s not normal behaviour and it’s a brand new device. Its not your job to diagnose it and it sounds like you know what you are doing as you have another watch exactly like it and only one is doing this, so it’s unlikely to be user error. I’d guess is either a faulty battery or dodgy HW/connection.
(Unless it’s a weird setting or something but I very much doubt that, can’t see anyone wanting that ‘feature’.)

@ADHDMonkey as i mentioned above, bought it on suunto.sk (7 days ago) and it is not suunto, it is just authorized seller. I contacted tham, thay told me to contact service center, service center told me that i may sent it to check to make sure if there is some issue or not. But in 14 day period i am allowed to return it. So now i just strugle if return/service/wait few batery cycles.
-
@Tomas5 I clearly didn’t understand the behaviour correctly from your first message. Sorry!
-
@Spree no problem english is not my native language
-
@Tomas5 If I were you, I’d return the watch and order a new one. When you are within your return window, the only acceptable thing is to have it replaced for a brand new one. If not possible, return it.
-
@Tomas5 I would return it. Don’t risk it. Sounds like a dodgy unit.

It’s what I called the most useful reply.

@Tomas5 Hello!
My Suunto 5peak behaves the same way. I don’t think it’s a problem. I have been using it for more than 6 months.
