Bug in latest firmware 2.23.20
-
I have read serveral post and it seems that a lot of people have problem with the latest firnware. My watch was working lik a charm before the update in november.
Is it possible to downgrade? Its very annoying that the exercise will end up in a mess. Right now I can’t trust the watch will work or not.

@mr-blom
actually no need to open a new thread for the same topic no offense, but it keeps everything cleaner when similar/equal topics are cumulated in same postsif you have any questions: please let us know.

@mr-blom
I don’t have any problem with the latest firmware at all. but I’ve asked other users for their settings. maybe (!) some special setup triggers crashes more frequently?if you don’t mind: please let me know your setup and I will try to replicate it.
sport mode, sensors (HR), navigation, battery setting, S+ etc -
@freeheeler sorry to keep this thread going When you asked this question, one thing came to my mind. In my case, crashes nearly exclusively occurred when I had (even slightly) custom setup: use of a Suunto App (Training Peaks / Strava / etc.) and/or a target (only distance, I’ve never set a duration target). Of all the other times when I used the basic setup (no Suunto App, no target), only once my watch crashed at the beginning of the activity.
I hope this input could help.

@freeheeler Right now I´m using the cross-country skiing, basic mode. Using a polar belt to mesuare the HR, using best performance for GPS, no battery saving. Have tried difference GPS seetings.
Very basic settings. The problem started in December. Its more frequently now. Last time it failed I tried to pause the activity for a few minutes. But was still hanging.
I notes in one of the exercise, I could see in the Suunto app when replaying the exercise it runs smooth in the begining and then start to lag.
-
@mr-blom I use the same setup in winter for running. Only difference is the profile ofcourse; running instead of cross-country. My watch has never stopped recording or crashed in it’s entire lifetime.
After the winter, I use the OHR again instead of the Polar belt.
Edit: I just read carefully and noticed that you use a basic profile. My running profile is custom. Maybe something you can try to see if the issue is in the profile?
Edit 2: Something else that crosses my mind… what other settings do you use? E.g. Backlight settings, touch screen, music controls (and do you use the controls during activity?),

@chargerunner said in Bug in latest firmware 2.23.20:
and/or a target (only distance, I’ve never set a duration target)
I can’t say anything about Strava because I don’t use it, but as far as the distance/time goal is concerned, I use it constantly (w/ or w/o S+ and all possible permutations with other settings, w/ oHR, w/ Suunto smart/Polar verity sense sensors and Polar stride sensor) and so far I’ve never encountered any hiccups or anything like that. One thing to say: I have a habit of doing a soft reset every now and then, and I don’t know if that protects me from hiccups (I will try w/o it from now on).

What app version are you on ? Yes it will be possible to downgrade ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos To be able to choose between two firmware versions (newest and last stable one) would be very interesting. People with many orr constant issues could test a downgrade and verify if the issues dissapear.
-
@jjpaz should be on next beta I think. Or if not already out. Android wise.
-
@jjpaz i downgraded from 2.23 to 2.20.30. it’s fine now
-
@Beepi Great!! Your watch was S9B, is that right?
-
Today I did a restart of the watch before my exercise and it worked. Can be a coincidence. My thoughts is that it can be a memory issue.
@gi0vanni Is it possible to downgrade the Peak? I have not find a way to do it.
-
@mr-blom
I have posted all info you need to downgrade in my first reply to your initial post
all is described in the link.
select your device name, the firmware you would like to downgrade to, download it and drag it into your SuuntoLink with the watch connected
hope the issues with your watch will be solved this way and of course for the future -
S9p can be downgraded now?
-
-
@freeheeler And S9P is upgraded vía OTA, not by Suuntolink…
-
@jjpaz yes. I was experiencing a bug where the Suunto plus apps didn’t work at all/crushed in activity. Keep in mind if you downgrade that you have to set up the watch after it, as all your customisations are deleted. You can find the firmware following the link above and scrolling down.

@zhang965 in latest android yes I think

I have done a restart of the watch before every exercise. And it worked for a few days. Today it didn’t work. It seems to be more worse. Can I downgrade the watch? I have the peak and can’t connect it through the suunto-link.
Right now I have to use one of my old watches can’t have a watch crashing all the time.
