Kickr Sensors
-
Hi,
So I was testing out my S9PP with my Kickrv5. It’s able to detect both Cycling Power with the term 'Power Pod" and the Cadence/Speed sensor with ‘Bike Pod’. However, despite it describing my Kickr’s Bike Pod in terms of being a Speed and Cadence sensor, it only reports the Cadence and never the Speed. And it connects to the Power sensor. So when I use my Kickr with Trainer Road, the watch never records speed. I realize this watch is BLE only and two channels max at that. Is it just choosing Cadence and to have Speed I’d have to drop the Power sensor? The lack of ANT+ is really unfortunate as you are forced use OHR. Obviously, I could use my Karoo 2 but wanted to see how it reports on the load by itself.

@seanvk I know, annoying. I think indoor trainers and sensors is an area where Suunto needs to improve still. Unfortunately I cannot give you more specific feedback as I don’t have a trainer myself.

@isazi Thanks. My observations seem to directly match earlier users of a Suunto 9 in which they could not see both Speed and Cadence with their trainer:

@seanvk he have been requiesting multiple sensor connect since long time ago. Having Speed/Cadence separated sensor cannot be handled. The only solution, is to buy the Suunto Speed/Cadence sensor (just one connection with 2 data fields)
Also having one that one bike, requires to pair/unpair every time you change between bikes (or HR straps…)
We have always same same answer, there where not enough power in the chipto handle everything… let’s see now that we have new HW with more processing capacity

I think Suunto’s answer here is ‘please use a Hammerhead Karoo 2’: they even sell them directly from their site, which to me speaks of the strength of partnership, and where they’re investing their resources.
Suunto and the ‘standard’ plethora of bike sensors today is a non-starter: you need to use a ‘bike pod’ (combined speed/cadence sensor) and a power meter, anything else results in a losing one of the data streams (eg in a power/cadence meter, only receiving power).

@seanvk I am in the situation since very longtime ago. I am using a s9b. After each workout I am uploading manually.fit file to SA to monitor my activity and analyze my data in wahoo app or Runalyze. I was hoping a integration similar to hammerhead with Wahoo.
