Suunto 5 won't sync latest activity to SA 2.23.20

Yesterday I updated my Suunto 5 watch firmware to 2.23.20. Today I went for a run and have been unable to successfully sync the watch to the Android Suunto App. Each attempt fails with the message “1 activity did not sync”. I’ve tried rebooting my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, performing a soft reset on the watch, all to no avail. Any ideas?
I’m running SA 4.60.3 on a Motorola Moto G8 with Android 11.

@epictetus Delete the unsynced run from the activity log on the watch and the problem goes away.
Did you use SuuntoPlus on the run?
I had this problem when the workout from TP synced with the watch and there was an error in the name of the workout. -

the activity goes away, too.
I’ve never had this issue, but checking sports tracker could be an option, too. -
@freeheeler Yes, unfortunately the activity will be lost. This happened regularly on my s9 with the previous firmware.

@Stas-Varazhbit Thanks. I finally managed to sync the run by just repeating the sync attempt over and over. I lost count of how many times I tried. I then recorded a dummy activity (just letting the watch run whilst not actually doing anything) and this one synced immediately. So fingers crossed the problem won’t recur!

@epictetus I’ve now recorded another (real) activity, which synced immediately. So I’m feeling more confident now that the problem is resolved .

@epictetus Unfortunately the problem has returned. Yesterday’s run took many attempts to sync, and I haven’t yet succeeded in syncing today’s run. Although syncing has never been reliable for me in the past, it usually happened after a few retries. Since the firmware update it is significantly worse. Does anyone know how I can flag this to Suunto to get tech support to investigate?

@isazi I’ve now raised this with Suunto Support via the webchat (the phone lines seem to have gone now). I’ve sent in the logs, and will see what happens

Well I’ve had no success with Suunto Support. They have been unable to offer anything other than the steps in their standard script, which I had already tried anyway. Bluetooth sync is an ongoing issue which has been made much worse by the recent firmware update to my watch. Looking at recent reviews of the App, this is clearly a common problem and Suunto needs to perform a proper technical investigation. What makes this particularly annoying is that there is now no way that activities can be read from the watch other than via BLE. Unless anyone (@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos) knows of a Windows utility that can do this?

does SuuntoLink not sync activities from the watch to the database anymore? is it only for older models?
I admit, I have never tried. my watch sees a cable only for firmware updates and for charging.
I thought syncing activities was still possible.but what’s the situation: did you manage to sync previous activities, but not your latest one?

@freeheeler Suuntolink will only do firmware and GPS updates for my watch now. My activities have all synced, eventually, but are often taking 1-2 days to appear in the app. The worst so far was a walk that took 5 days!

did you sign out and in from SA again? clear cache and do all these tricks? if you have the possibility to try with another phone it would be good to check if you can exclude the phone as a potential issue.I honestly was not aware that SL does not sync activities
