What is going on with Suunto?
-
@gi0vanni what do you mean not available anymore ?
-
@isazi I try to read almost everything but I miss things here and there. A recap would be welcome when released (both app and fw).

update is inbound fyi
What’s the meaning of “inbound” in this context? Which month?
-
@Mitch9 should be November.

Which year?
Uff that is 2-3 days… Getting excited.
-
@Ketoohs In the past it seemed that Suunto likes Tuesdays and Thursdays… Which doesn’t leave us with many options… Only one in fact
-
@isazi I’ve never seen such a specific release date before!
-
@suzzlo we should know on Wednesday if this time the release date is correct. I see that at Suunto all devs and others are working on the watches and the app to make everything ready for this and future releases.

Suunto maintains recent watches as good as possible and if hardware allows
@freeheeler As much I love Suunto, this statement about maintaining watches as good as possible if hardware allows is rather sad to hear for a watch released a little over a year ago. Would be fair if it concerned the Spartan series but for 9 Peak, rather disappointing.

To me, this is summed up by the idea that S9PP is what S9P was supposed to be. S9P has enabled Suunto to bridge the gap waiting for S9PP to be out and in an ideal world, S9P when it has been released should have been what S9PP has inside today.
-
@altcmd What’s so wrong about this statement? You should wait for the update before you complain. Just my two cents.
-
@altcmd first of all, what @freeheeler says is not an official Suunto statement, so you are just commenting on some other user’s opinion.
Second, @freeheeler didn’t say anything earth shattering: you can update software as long as the hardware allows for it. S9P will get updates, but will never get all of the S9PP functionalities, because it does lack in hardware for some of them. -
@altcmd did anyone say that S9P won’t get any updates or new features?
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel
no, the op just feared at first as I understood.
we have another thread with similar fears and I personally find them unfounded.
my watch model is almost 4 years old and (again, personally) I don’t worry yet -
@Mitch9 @isazi My remark was pretty much on another statement and not on Suunto - as I pretty much alluded to since the Spartan is quite old now. So no, I am not saying it is official Suunto PR. Secondly, ofcourse you can update the software, if the hardware allows and my two cent on that is pretty much as I said - its a pity we are already in a hardware limitation realm within a little over a year of S9P release (and it has nothing to do with what S9PP can or cannot do). So, nothing earth shattering but a reality.

When it comes to support, my main concerns are bug fixes, so I don’t have any particular expectations after purchasing equipment (at the time of purchase I have already decided what I need). Of course I don’t mind new things, but you know new things also mean new bugs… so again bug fixing is my main concern and I hope to see improvements in the UI (I mean speed).

Told you, guys, Suunto likes Tuesdays… S9PP just got better https://www.suunto.com/Support/Software-updates/Release-notes/suunto-9-peak-pro-software-updates/
So, what now?

Update 2.22.60 for Suunto 9 Peak Pro
New firmware Sony GNSS:
-Improvement in track and distance
-Fix lost GPS in tunnelsProbably tomorrow family S9/S9P/S9B and other of S5 and 3 I think
-
@inkognito It is a small update for the S9PP, but it probably had a lot of features already before that, so there was no need for anything big.
The S9P and other S9 have had their last update on March, so the update should be more significant.
Lets hope it comes on Thursday.

@Ketoohs Just be aware that significant updates often happen “under the hood”. Like the changes that bring better possibilities of SuuntoPlus apps that are expected now. Sometimes people imagine “significant updates” like “bring us 5 new watchfaces, change all the menus and bring me at least 5 new functions that I will never use” Those people are often disapointed
