Altimeter auto calibration (Not fused alti)
-
This morning before get up from the bed I noticed that altimeter is at 119m. After synced watch with my phone, altimeter calibrated itself at 130m. My exact altitude is 128m. Is there a kind of auto calibration that works using gps position from smartphone? Garmin does this since Fenix 6 in fact after I calibrated my altitude before go to bed, it “aucals” every night at 128m. Does Suunto 9PP act the same? Is there a way to set correct altitude for auto calibration?

@renton82
I would be surprised if that was the case. Because Suunto would very frequently rely on external sensors that they have no control about.What did you do, when you noticed it? Saw 119m, synced, did nothing else and then it showed 130m on the watch?

@freeheeler Yes i did nothing, altitude changed by itself.

@renton82
maybe… since switch between baro and alti is automatic and detected by motion, the pressure changed maybe due to weather change and the watch took it for an alti change? -
@freeheeler It is possible, but my Enduro 2’s altimeter didn’t move…

@renton82 no, as far as I know there is no setting altitude from the app. But where did you see the altitude? In the outdoor widget, sleep widget, SPO2 widget?

The watch will autocalibrate in all screens that use gps.
For for example if you enter the activity pre start screen it will start a trigger asking for gps based altitude calibration.
