GPS recording rate
-
I can’t find any informations about GPS recording rate.
How GOOD and OTIMUM mode work? And how about PERFORMANCE, RESISTENCE and TOUR mode?
I also don’t see any reference to Fused Track mode. -
@renton82 every mode but tour is using 1s rate. Tour is 1h or when custom lap is pressed. There’s no FusedTrack as endurance now has 1s rate (it’s using fewer satellites compared to performance).
-
So i imagine that “Good” vs “Optimum” in custom GPS mode means “less than 32” vs 32 satellites.
So, basically, performance uses 32 satellites, 1s, optimum GPS mode, endurance uses “x satellites”, 1s, good GPS mode, and tour uses “x satellites”, 1h, good GPS mode.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel Is it really fewer satellites? Because that site says that endurance uses duty cycle (chip works for half a second and then it is idle for the other half). It doesn’t say anything about decreased number of satellites…
-
I also read that it can use maximum of 4 GNSS at time, not 5 like i read here https://www.suunto.com/it-it/sports/News-Articles-container-page/why-navigating-with-a-suunto-has-never-been-better/
-
@renton82 it’s 5: GPS, QZSS, Galileo, Glonass, Beidou
-
@inkognito I don’t know. I’m repeating what I’ve learned on this forum. I think that one of the testers mentioned that on endurance it’s using less satellites.
Edit
This article clearly states that the chip works on half second indeed. And also - it powers on for 2 mins every half hour on tour mode. Interesting. -
@isazi Ok, but I read here https://www.suunto.com/en-us/Products/Sports-Watches/suunto-9-peak-pro/suunto-9-peak-pro-all-black/
that it can uses only 4 constellations at time
-
@renton82 Yes, sometimes GPS and QZSS are considered as one system as they are automatically compatible… So, you have GPS+QZSS, GALILEO, GLONASS and BEIDOU which makes 4 or 5 systems depending on your nomenclature…
-
@inkognito Ok, understood!
