Suunto 9 Peak Pro?

Greetings to all Suunto 9 Peak Pro owners!
First of all, I would like to say that I am very satisfied with the watch - route recording, battery life, etcā¦ But one thing bothers me a little: the step counting, which is very sensitive, so much so that you just raise your hand while sitting and the steps jump, or at least a step. Can this sensitivity be adjusted somewhere? Do you have a similar experience? Couldnāt another update fix this? Thanks for your opinions. -

Yes, itās the tradition since S9, the old story is S9 line has no such context sensor so the step counter is less accurate than S3 or S5 .
My suggestion is, just forget it, donāt look it, be an ostrich.

@zhang965 Thanks for your quick reply and explanation. Yes, I can confirm that the wifeās S5 does not load steps like this, and I think your head-in-the-sand tutorial is an excellent idea. Thanks.

@zhang965 uhmmmm Iām usually running above 150-160HR, and rise to wake usually works wellā¦but, sometimes during nights, I found imposible to trigger correctlyā¦ my point here is that, from my viewpoint, the functionality deppends in body position.
This is at least my impressionBR

@Martin-Vrska I think that Suunto prioritized step counting with the 3, 7 and 5 series as the individuals purchasing and using those would be more concerned with step counts. The 9 series is I think is more focused on the athletes and at least in my sphere of friends not a single one pays attention to the steps, they pay attention to hours of exercise, intensity, etc.
I do not know if enhancing the step detection in the 9 series would affect other functions or if the development is deemed not sufficiently worthy. -
Has the 9PP a resume later function like Garmin and Coros? Or is it coming soon? That would be great when you have a longer break.
When pausing sports activity your watch still uses gps and more battery i suppose? -

This functionality is not present, but it has been requested.

Correct.

@isazi Hope Suunto will listen to our request!

Quick question: When restarting the watch (off -> on) the watch shows 02:00 AM / Jan 2nd and will only show the correct time after a sync with the App.
Is that a bug or a feature?If I do not have my phone with me and need to restart the watch, I cannot use it or am I wrong?

Maybe in that case a gps fix itās enough
-
@sartoric Iāll give it a try but itās surprisingly the very first watch not ārememberingā the time. Very odd.
-
@lessthanmore iāve just tested on mine. You can set the date and time manually in the setting after reboot.
Skip the āsync with the app is recommendedā screen, then general settings, there you have the Time/Date entry in the menu, and you need to deselect āAutomatic time update via Suunto appā in order to set the date and time manually. It will try to get a GPS fix and then suggest to set manually. -
@lessthanmore
for how long did you switch off the watch? is it possible that the battery was empty?
both my kids have an S3 and the sometimes donāt use them for several weeks. when the batteries die, the watch goes back to january.
I donāt think that a simple switch off/on should set time and date backā¦ -

I donāt think that a simple switch off/on should set time and date backā¦On S9 Peak and S9PP, a reboot (stop / start) will reset the date/time unfortunately.
-
@taziden
did you switch it off and date and time were reset?ā¦edit: alright, thanks for the update.

No full name in Stravaā¦Only Suuntoā¦
How long we still have to wait? -
@Ultrawalker I think you need to address this question to Stravaā¦
But what does it help in training?`
