S9P gets stuck in the "Saving" screen after finishing a session
-
I tried again yesterday. The problem persists, but I finally discovered the exact behaviour. With Suunto+ burner activated, it is impossible to move to any other screen the first time that you get into that screen. If you press the upper button to switch screens nothing happens. The watch returns to its normal operation if the activity is paused and inmediately resumed. In fact, when resumed, the screen is not Suunto+, but the screen corresponding to the number of button press when freezed in the Suunto+. After that, you can change screens back and forth from Suunto+
I have not tried other Suunto+, but I think that the last time I used the climb one, it worked as a charm.

@Efejota Noticed the same behaviour on the Weather feature. I was hiking and navigating a route. As soon as I swiped to the Weather page, the watch seems to be stuck. I was unable to swipe left or right for a long time (10-20 sec). After a while the watch seems to respond again.
Edit:
Just tried it again, but I can’t reproduce the issue. The watch does scroll through all the pages with a small delay, but that delay has always been there. The watch did not reboot between the last activity and this test. -
I have checked today with Ghost Runner and the behaviour is the same. Screen freezes and returns to normal when paused/resumed. After that, moving between screens is normal. If replicated by others, this should be reported as a bug, shouldn’t it?

@Efejota I’ve used the ghost runner S+ app without issues, even recently. And we are pretty close to a new software release, so I’ll report this if it happens after the new release.
-
@isazi OK. Note, however, that it happened to me at least with two different Suunto+: Burner and Ghost Runner.

Same happened to me today. I had to press the upper left button for several seconds to un-stuck my watch.
Activity was lost afterwards which is not a big deal as it was just a simple commuting bike activity (with no S+ screen, no sensors, only the watch ohr and gps on performance mode).
I paused the activity 2 times.First time this happens since I got the watch in july 2021.
I sent the logs through the app. Let me know if you need anything else.

@taziden send me a message with your email ( the one you use in SA) and the time you sent the logs

Today my Peak 9 went blank mid run and then returned to the general time screen. I had to restart the activity. I was using a Styrd, HR armband and the Core body temp sensor with the Suunto Core Body temp app activated. I’ve used this app about 6 times and had no problems. It took a while to find the GPS when I restarted (usually instant). Would it have stopped due to the GPS dropping out (there was no obvious reason for the GPS to drop). I have not cleared activities since I got my watch - is it recommended to do this or doe the watch alert you if full? I will do a soft reset again…
-
@loopylou72 the watch crashed door some reason we don’t know. If it happens again sync with the app and send logs to Suunto, and then contact us.
-
@isazi OK thanks. I did a hard reset this time. Is there anyway to save custom sports modes when you reset? I have lost all mine
-
@loopylou72 Unfortunately, you have to create them again. There’s no way to retrieve the settings after a hard reset. It’s a feature that has been requested lots of times by others.
-
@Simon thanks
-
@isazi it happened again today, after nearly three hours the watch just stopped the activity and returned to the watch face screen. The activity was saved but the data was strange - no moving/elapsed time difference and the manual laps I did do not show up on Suunto app although I can see them on Strava. Seems to have started since using the Core body temp Suunto app? I have sent logs now.
-
@loopylou72 send me a PM and I’ll report this issue, thanks.

Any news here? My S9P got stuck saving for 30min, tried all the buttons and finally upper right for 12s to restart it. Activity is lost (nothing in logbook), but steps, calories and HR graph is still synced. I assume there is no way to recover it. No S+/guides/navigation/zones, just basic running activity. I hope this is just April fools and tomorrow I’ll have it back It was such a good performance and I’m really angry not having it
-
@Likarnik It happened to me the day before yesterday. Basic Cycling activity. Got stuck in syncing HR data (I use Suunto Smart belt), had to restart and lost the activity. I think it has happened to me a couple of times since I bought it. Maybe some connectivity issue with the belt???
It is back to normal now.

@Efejota no sync here, I use H10. It happened first time since I have the watch (1.5 years).
-
@Efejota I don’t think is related to the belt. I have had long saving times with and without belt, I’m more incline to believe that is related with the amount of free memory in the watch or something similar.
Twice I have saving times for more than 20 minutes with older firmwares, the first time I did a soft reset and I lost the activity, the second one I pushed randomly the buttons and eventually the activity was saved. -
I had the same thing 2 days ago with S9PP. First time since purchase in October. It’s not likely to be a belt issue, I use an accessory watch every time.
A surprising coincidence of dates. Maybe it’s just a statistic, or maybe not ? -
