Syncing from bicycle gps computer to suunto app?
-
Hello, i’m planning to get a bicycle gps computer since i bought a roadbike and want a better navigation than my loved Sunnto 9 Baro can offer me.
I haven’t made a decision yet what i computer i will get.
What possibilities are there for syncing my activities e.g. from Garmin or Wahoo to suunto app? -
@mikeorbreak , for Garmin and Wahoo you’d need to relay on 3rd party sync services (well… unless you are OK with exporting / importing your cycling activities manually). With Hammerhead Karoo you’d get better integration, including Suunto heatmaps on Karoo.

I know it’s possible with hammerhead… I’m not sure if the karo is the right computer for me.Is there a possibility for an automatic syncing from wahoo/garmin to suunto app over a 3rd party app?
If yes whats the best solution? -

@mikeorbreak I guess if you’re not against setting up too much accounts there’s something you could try.
There’s the possibility to connect Komoot to the Suunto app. I know it’s a 2 way sync (which is the reason why I didn’t set it up, as I use Komoot only for my rides and didn’t wanted to get all the other activities pushed to Komoot), but I don’t remember whether Suunto only pulls planned rides from Komoot or also recorded ones. If that’s the case, then you might have a way to automate the transfer, at least for wahoo computers, as the app let’s you set connect it with your Komoot account for automatic sync of the recorded activities.
I usually record my rides concurrently with the wahoo and the watch (although the OHR I get while riding is usually very off), and only do manual syncs from wahoo activities when I haven’t recorded it with the watch. For this you can use Quantified self upload function (hidden in the services, not the default upload) with a .fit file from your bike computer, or upload a .gpx to Sports Tracker (which shares the same database as the suunto app), but this one comes with some caveats, like needing to correct the ascent/descent values that are not correctly fetched. -
@martin thank you - i’ll give it a try since i already have a komoot account. I hope this works…

@mikeorbreak I recently purchased a Karoo 2 and I think well worth it. Having Suunto heatmaps is fantastic and the unit seems great. I have not used it a lot yet but I would highly recommend it.
