Ambit syncs but immediately forgotten by Suunto App

My Ambit3 Vertical (watch) was successfully paired to the Suunto App (app). Had to replace phone (same model, Samsung S8).
Now, I pair the watch as expected to the app, I get the Passkey prompt, enter passkey, app says paired. Immediately after this the app goes right back to the “Looking for Devices”. I’ve tried unpairing watch, re-pairing to the app, no problem - again immediately back to “Looking for Devices”. This was just working on the last phone. I’ve connected the watch to my PC via Suuntolink no problem, recognized. I just can’t sync to my phone to get any routes.
Any ideas welcome. Very frustrating.
