S7 Altitud shifting during activities?
-
On the first case happened on a circuit of less than 2.5km in wich the max altitude difference it’s 1m only. Doing multiple turns on this circuit (total 5Km each turn), after the 2nd turn and 30’ of activity, the S7 started to increase the altitude (red line on graphic) from -12 to 1m, 5m, 13m in a zone that the biggest difference is only 1m, it’s really strange.
On the 2nd case it’s a similar wrong behavior. I highlighted 8 intervals on the graphic, climbing a bridge with inline skate. Base of the bridge and top, are always the same. As you can see, the S7 register this but never goes back to the initial altitude, always goes up. Even in the last interval, red arrow, goes back to previous altitude but it’'s almost the highest point from previous interval and never goes back to the initial state that woulbe logical knowing that I not mover more than 1km on the area and his altitude it’s around 7 to 17-20m from base to top.
Also a the altimeter is wrong, in the zone that say -12m the altitude is around 7m and least on the last weeks activities, always start from this -10, -15m that is wrong. The strange is that the sensors works perfects, If I tried with other app or altimeter app, the information about the zone is correct. If I use the altimeter on the stairs or climbing something to test, react perfectly to the altitud change. The problem is during the recording on SWA.
During these activities no has signficicant weather or pressure changes, nothing to link it to a misunderstanding of the conditions.
I could identify this behavior on various activities, not only on these two.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

@flypg I had similar problems a year ago I think it was. Cleaning the baro hole with a soft toothbrush solved the issue for me.

@aleksander-h Thank you!, I do that every few weeks, time to put an eye on this.
UPDATE: looks OK and clean, barometer and altimeter apps works well, altitude errors and shifting happen on SWA.

@flypg I typically get a straight upward line for altitude if using the S7 for indoor stairs climbing (meaning the baro sensor is alright), but never so smooth with outdoor activities when the GPS comes into play. S9 Baro is much better in this regard. Besides we can’t calibrate the altitude on the S7 before activity starts, it just gives whatever altitude it interprets from the baro sensor value.

Yes, very often I have to wait 2 to 10 minutes to start with a reasonable altitude. A manual calibration is really something to add imho.

@g-q This could be a possible reason of the “shifting”. I not wait any time. I open the app, select the Sport Mode and I start the activity inmediatelly after get fixed GPS. Maybe I need to wait more, but this is not for me

After few weeks testing, I can say that this can’t be the reason, looks that this is the normal behavior of the SWA

@flypg I have had similar issues occasionally. It was more when I tried ski touring and the altitude was off by a few hundred meters at times. When I download the route / gpx file and upload the gpx file into the app, it has the elevation correct. My question is, why doesn’t the FusedAlti solve this in real time?
