GPS lost mid run
-
During parkrun this morning my S7 lost GPS during the run and would not re-acquire it.
This is frustrating if infrequent, but is not the second time this year this has happened and becoming quite a nuisance.
I’m not looking for any solutions to this, as aside from a factory reset I do not see what else can be done.
However, this does push me towards looking (just looking at this stage) for a possible replacement. This is another nudge to Suunto to release a successor to the S7, as it would be my first choice.
As it stands, there is no other Suunto watch that appeals to me. In fact, the only other sports watch that meets the most of my requirements (there isn’t one that meets them all) is the Garmin Epix2.
Changing subject, there is another issue that resulted from today’s issue.
The loss of GPS defaulted to putting my in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Ghana!! This resulted in a recorded distance of over 5700km!!!
This was then auto synced to Strava (and training peaks, and runalyze, etc).
Mot of these services allow me to edit the data, but Strava does not.Could we please, please, PLEASE have an option within the Suunto App to decide WHEN the data synchronisation happens? If the activity needs any modification (or photos adding) then it becomes a chore to modify everything, when instead it could be done once in Suunto and then manually synced with the updated info.

This is the resulting map associated with the activity…
I have manually changed the distance, but it was originally 5723.4km

@olymay I have had this happen only once or twice. For me I ran from the US to Spain!

it happens here too and also some reset here and there…
my initial enthusiasm with the S7 is now almost gone. -
@g-q I still love my S7, it does most of what I need it do.
My worry is that Suunto have dropped it and as such issue like this will never get resolved (admittedly it doesn’t happen often, but it’s too frequently).
I really hope there is a replacement to the S7 coming. As it won’t last forever will need to be replaced, there isn’t really anything else like it out there.
