Suunto app is now available for Apple silicon M1 Macs from App Store
-
I get it now, thx guys

Hi, this is a great update. Just wondering will it support sync? At least I could not see any way how I could have synced my watch with App. I do use some IOS apps on my M1 and they can sync with BT devices so I quess it could work. If sync directly from watch would be possible it would be great.
I do think it would be much easier to get sync working from M1 than creating Qt base Suunto App that could be used natively on Sailfish OS. I can say that on SFOS forum there has been many, at least three, mentions about Suunto and not beeing able to sync with Sailfish OS. Android support layer by Myriad Group does not support file transfer protocols on SFOS so Android app does not work. So I could say there must be more than four users that would greatly benefit having Qt app of Suunto App!
Last bit was irony. I know there is know point for Suunto to greate Qt app and Iām completely aware of āissuesā that comes when not using Android or iPhone as primary mobile phone.

Works in my iMac M1. My two cents:
(i) The white space in the interface is too big (as in iPad, but obviously multiplied by the bigger screen of the computer)
(ii) There is (or I have found) no way to zoom in or out in the map using the mouse.
On the other hand, please, @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos insist with the iOS team on the fact that we cannot select a particular activity using the dot in the map as in Android. That would be a real improvement for iOS users.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but Zoom works if you hold the āaltā key and make zooming gestures (2 finders) on your mouse pad.

ā¦ā2 fingersā, that is

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos funny that the same guys who was defending now 3 years the ramp down of Movescount as a ābig screen solutionā as most damaging Suunto decision ever made in company history, now celebrating that the āsmall screenā app is now ported to big screen Macās, you canāt make this s**** up
-
@Tetrix22222 I was defending the move to mobile, I would rather have the app as it is now than being tied to desktop. I donāt find the Mac app nearly as useful as the iPad. I started asking for an iPad solution long ago. As far as I am concerned there is no better platform to draw routes, etc than the iPad and very happy to have that now.
-
@Tetrix22222 is movescount or something available on osX ?

I have mac OS 12.4 with an 6-Core Intel Core i7, and the app store for the Sunnto App notes this is not compatible. What are the solutions to installing the app on this MacBook Pro? many thanks
-
@adders73 none unfortunate. Itās for apple M1 only (and possibly M2 as well?)
-
@thanasis thanks for the quick response. I am stunned that an app for general use (Sunnto users) can be designed to be so restrictive. My MBP is 2019. I guess there are no plans to resolve this ?
-
@adders73 I think the case is that Mac with Apple Silicon can run iOS apps and not that Suunto designed an app specifically for Macs and restricted it.

And in fact the same is valid for Android and Windows 11

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Guess it works also on M2 MacBook Air? Is it possible to build a rout in SA on MB Air M2?
-
@mountainChris I guess it should work, if you see it i. The app store then it works. And yes you can create routes.

Hi everyone
Sorry if I posted a comment here, but I did download the app suunto from appstore on my MacBook Air M2, but it appears that it doesnāt find my Suuntoo 5, I mean when I open the app on the Macbook I donāt see any watch icone on the app
The bluetooth is onDo you have any idea ?
Thank for your answer -
@B-Rom your watch can be paired only to one device.
-
@B-Rom the app does not use BT on osx
-
@DMytro
hii I have no other device paired with -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
oh okay, so how can I pair the Suunto with mac os ?
