SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.19.42 January 27, 2022

@dmytro
because I honestly don’t remember the difference of the displays in SA when you had hill climb activated or not…
but I find it somehow useful in the activity already. hill grade, number of climbs etc… of course it would be best if we could see the avg vertical speed since the last climb. the “now” vertical speed doesn’t tell me much to be realistic… the avg for a consecutive climb has much more information. -

@egika you get automatic laps. And you get a grade data field too
OK. Thank you. Automatic laps I knew, but for hiking don’t see the use case. Grade is definitely an extra - still need to learn what I would do with it on a hike.
But this is definitely a personal thing.
Thank you all for your explanations! -
@egika for example, how comfortable you are while climbing/scrambling a section of a certain steepness? I don’t care for the grade myself though.
-
@freeheeler lap avg vertical speed is available as a standard data fields (with with manual laps though - but if you are not doing hill repeats it should be possible to press that lap button ;))
-
@egika
I usually have auto laps activated for skitouring and I have one datafield for laps avg vertical speed in m/h… this is somehow what I would like to see. but of course laps are every km and this never matches with flat and steep sections on the tour… but gives at least an indication.
I tried manual laps… but skitouring is so much more than having the eyes on the watch. sometimes I completely ignore it and hence wouldn’t push the lap button… and of course it would be cumbersome since I am one of the biggest lock button fans around hereedit: @Egika see, same thoughts

@freeheeler try the S+ hill climb. It will do the laps for you (they are not 100% precise, but better than nothing), and you can see the average speed in your custom screen.
-
@isazi
ah really? does it do the laps from S+ and hence show my pre-set avg vertical speed triggered by S+??
didn’t know that…the only drawback: only one S+ at a time
-
@freeheeler which ones do you usually use on ski tours?

Me: weather
-
@egika hahaha, alright, non baro device here - what’s up with weather?
-
-
@dmytro
burner… but mainly out of curiosity on long term.most values from hill climb are in my customized screens already, BUT since I’ve learned something today, I need to reconsider …and wish for multiple S+ screens to be active in parallel
-
@freeheeler or: an S+ builder! You design your own functions. Let’s make this a votable suggestion
-
@egika I could finally realise the special relativity feature XD
-
@dmytro
you want to compensate the time the faster you go? -
@freeheeler yup, so I can save up time do do more sports haha. Which in turn would save me some more time.
-
@dmytro
S+ “albert’s edition” -

Any possibility of being able have grade available as a data field? Just had a look on the customisation and for whatever reason it’s not on there. I would use it
-
@miniforklift it is an open request with Suunto. So, it could happen. Not sure, but could.
-
When will data become available as a datafield instead of a Suunto+ screen?
Grade is available for snowboarding but not for other sport modes. You have to add a Suunto+ screen. And since we’re limited to 1 Suunto+ screen at the time…
