Suunto wear app on other Wear OS devices
-
Has anybody heard if it’s possible to get Suunto wear app to other Wear OS devices?
For the past few weeks I’ve been using Galaxy Watch4 LTE as my daily watch and would actually be willing to pay a subscription or a 1 time fee to Suunto if I could have Suunto wear app.
I don’t know about Suunto’s plans but maybe this could be an option if they don’t develop S7 anymore or if a successor is not in their plans.
I’m still keeping my S7 for training though. -
@jantikainen sunnto’s wear app is the reason I got the s7. I doubt they’d release the app

I’ve seen people on Reddit try, but they’ve all failed. I also don’t think we’d be allowed to discuss how if it was possible. It would probably be considered a form of piracy.

@jantikainen I can’t see it happening. The Suunto App is brilliant and a big reason to get the S7 (and any future WearOS watches from Suunto if there are any).
In my opinion (not a developer, hardware engineer, anyone affiliated with Suunto, just a regular user) one of the reasons the Suunto App is so good is that it is specifically designed for the particular hardware in the S7. I know most WearOS devices use the same/similar hardware, but there are differences.
If Suunto allowed the App on other devices, then it would likely end up running on non-optimised devices and could end up running poorly. Slow interface, poor battery life, inaccurate GPS, etc.
This would result in damage to the reputation of the app in turn Suunto.Just my thoughts.

@aleksander-h its too heavily integrated into the firmware and drivers - been discussed and answered before.
