‘Raise to wake’ not very reliable
-
Hi,
As an ex-Apple Watch user, I got used to a reliable « raise to wake » experience.
My 9 Peak is certainly not very good at it. Sometimes the brightness will increase as soon as I raise my wrist. Other times it’ll take a few seconds. And other times still I’ll have to push the middle button to wake the screen up. Am I the only one? Doesn’t seem to be many options, other than On, Off, or Exercise only. -
@richjod My experience is very similar. I find it not very consistent, but I rather stay with the screen dimmed than having it with light with every little move.

@richjod thanks for the feedback. This has been discussed in the forum and we’ll try to bring the feedback to Suunto.

In day to day use for me it’s mostly ok.
But I did a longer trail race that included running through a whole night and I used trekking poles. When running or walking with poles the watch lit up almost every step. I think my wrist rotates a little bit when the pole hits the ground and it’s lights on. Pitch black in the forest so I noticed every time. Really annoying, it got me paranoid that I use all the battery

@aligigi for day by day I just use the adaptive backlight and it’s more than enough, outdoor and indoor. I would like a better raise to wake for winter, when afternoon training is in the dark. Right now I simply turn the backlight on from the activity menu, I prefer to have the light on more than having an unreliable raise to wake.

@isazi the same here

@aligigi same experience here with running (S5). Also, in S5 it lights up like a flashlight during the workout instead of this nice and easy for the eyes standby light.

@richjod same watch, same problem… i had a lot of sports watches in the last years (7) this one is the worst in regards to raise to wake…

I agree is not as good as it could be. It works but not always and has a little lag. Let’s hope this is improve in the future.
