Recorded HR activity/ Daily HR activity discrepancies
-
Hello,
on saturday I’ve made a walk with my dog and in the last part we run as fast as we could for about 1km. The activity (walk) recorded shows me a max HR of about 169 bpm as depicted in the following screenshot (the correct max HR was 171 and has been recorded by my chest strap HRM).
That said if I browse the saturday HR daily activity (see screenshot) the max HR detected is about 133bpm.
Question: how come these discrepancies? -
@g-q
I guess that it was an interval of time too short and it was filtered out from the daily graph.
Maybe it was interpreted as an unexpeted spike in readings, or maybe it was simply too short to be drawn -

I’ve held a high HR for almost 5 minutes so it’s not that short. I will check again… thanks.

@g-q
Well, it’s a 0.35% of a day … It looks short to meThis is what you see for 30min of “high” rate (and the next hour of “recovery”)

@sartoric
oops I thought you meant the recorded walk activity. Got it anyway! -
@g-q Suunto graphs on a 10min ave, like most of the other smartwatch manufacturers. Garmin is the only one I know of that graphs using a 2 min ave. You see the same queries on the Garmin Forums and Reddits - my max HR for my activity was xxx, but when I look at my daily high HR it was only xyy. So even a 2min ave can still cause this issue.

ahem it’s written in the manual. shame on me!

@g-q NP - its not something that most pay attention to, and reason why it comes up on pretty much on every manufacturers forums.
