Watch added 1000ft of vertical gain activity
-
Hiked a known route in a National Park today. Known to be 3000ft of elevation gain.
National Park map states it is ~3000ft.
Komoot calculated ~3000ft.
Partner’s Garmin calculated ~3000ft when complete.
In my logbook on watch & in Suunto app it states 4400ft of elevation gain for the activity which is not correct. I was also using the Komoot GPX route that also states ~3000 ft of elevation gain when imported into Suunto app.When I look at the recording it does not add up to 4400ft either. It looks like 3000ft or less.
Thinking back, I set the furthest waypoint past where I turned around. So I would expect to see remaining elevation but was surprised at the turnaround point that I picked when it was zero. Something glitched.
I expect and am ok with variance but not so much.

@jmoneygrip
sounds strange… in order to help, people will be thankful for more info: graphs, links, etc… -
@jmoneygrip share a link please so we can validate this.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I sent it to you directly. When I view the gpx route on the watch under navigation it also reports correct expected vertical gain.
-
@jmoneygrip the gain the watch and then gpx files report is counting every little chnace to the cm I would assume. I’ll pass your file from several other databases to validate this.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos it’s never been off so much before. The GPX file in the app & on the watch show less than 3000ft ascent, not 4400.
