Sunnto 9 Peak crashed mid activity
-
My Suunto 9 Peak stopped recording today’s activity after 1h 52 min. I can’t remember, if I pushed the “pause” button or if the watch ended it without me doing anything at all. The activity was somewhat saved in the watch’s logbook and I could sync it with the Suunto App, but there it didn’t show me all the usual data. It only shows the total duration of the activity, ascent, descent, average hr, recovery time, max hr, highest and lowest point, but no TSS hr. This is really sad, since I have to estimate the TSS hr now and add it manually, which is all but precise.
Also, although I could see some of this activity’s data on the watch (in the logbook) initially, now, after syncing with the Suunto App, there is no longer any data shown, when I open the activity in the logbook. The activity file seems to be totally corrupted now. This never happened to me before the September 28th watch update. I will hard reset the Suunto Peak 9 now in the hopes of not getting struck by that frustrating crash again.
PS: I guess there’s no way to restore the data retrospectively so that it shows the TSS hr?

@team-keystroke-harmony if the data in SA is corrupted then your watch crashed, if everything is there you probably terminated the activity somehow. Usually having 0 as ascent and descent (well, until you run on flat ground) is an indication of the watch crashing, another one is wrong HR zones.
-
@isazi Both the hr zones are correctly shown, but not ascent and descent, which is 0 m for both. It really did crash then.
Are there any countermeasures to prevent the watch from crashing? Perhaps not recording longer activities as one? -
@team-keystroke-harmony how long ago did this happen? If is less than 24 hours you can try to send logs via the app, and maybe someone at Suunto can check.
Were you using any S+?
Length should not be a factor. -
@isazi It happened only a few hours ago and the S+ I’ve used was “Trainingpeaks Heartrate”.
Could this be the source of the crash? -
@team-keystroke-harmony difficult to say what’s the reason. If you sent the logs I can fill a bug with Suunto and maybe they’ll find out why.
-
@isazi Ok cool, how should I’ve sent the logs and is it still possible to do so more than 24 hours after it happened? I couldn’t neither find anything on the watch nor in SA.
-
@team-keystroke-harmony no it’s definitely too late now. Next time if it happens send them immediately. On Android in the watch menu, top right menu, send logs to Suunto.
-
@isazi Ok, too bad. I have SA on iOS. How can I send the logs from there?
-
@team-keystroke-harmony click on the profile tab (far right, bottom of screen, little person symbol) then scroll / swipe down to the bottom and it should be under the sign out option.

Hi, I did an outdoor swim yesterday, watch ‘reset’ to ‘start’ screen after 16 seconds. I first thought I didn’t record it, but then did a 7+ hour hike today, track showed on watch etc, when I synced to app,
it showed me the swim location, no hiking track, but the hiking stats, and it was marked as a hike starting yesterday at 17:35 - the time of the swim. On my logbook I can only see 16min swim activity, my hike from today is completely MIA. I deleted the ‘swim/hike’ mess from suunto app, and was hoping to re-sync and see proper data, but not sure how. I then started a hike for about 10 seconds, hoping logbook would update with my real hime somehow. The 13second hike synced through. So I have 2 questions now - how do I get my hike back, and 2. how do I make sure this never happens again? I bought this watch just over a month ago, and so far so good, but two messed-up activities in 2 days - what do I do now? -
@ronelspies if the hike is on the watch, try to log out of the app an in again. Or even uninstall and reinstall the app.
-
@isazi tx - tried it, it still showing up as a confused no gps ‘hike’ at the time of the swim on Friday, with hiking stats and no track. I sent ‘contact support’
request from my app as well as logs, will see if Suunto gets back to me. Thanks anyway
