Hi, I have had a Suunto Ambit3 Peak for about 4 years now and for the past few weeks I have been having problems measuring altitude and Atmospheric Pressure.
I have always had the watch properties with active in the Automatic Profile and FusedAlti on and always with Reference with auto adjustment, having always worked well until a few weeks ago.
In the last few days I have never been able to have temperature values or Atmospheric pressure and the altitude values are always out of adjustment, even during an exercise with the GPS active. I’ve tried everything to fix this, I’ve reset the clock, restarted the clock and even cleaned the area next to the clock, and unfortunately everything remains the same. Did the Barometric sensor break down? If so, it’s worth worth fixing? What can I do? since I have this malfunction, my trainings have incorrect and even non-existent altimetry values. I look forward to your help. Thanks!

@isazi ok Thanks! Do you know if the possible repair of the sensor is too expensive.
The watch have 4 years, and now there are newer watches. Will it pay to try the repair? If you buy a new watch, is suunto still a good option? Thanks

@casimirov I am sure Support will be able to tell you how much does it cost for repair, I don’t know. I do not own an Ambit, I have a Suunto 9 Peak.

Clean the baro holes, make a reset/reinstalation of software.
In the meantime, contact support, just in case those two procedures don’t work.

The exact same thing has happened to me. Is there a way to use GPS altitude instead of barometric?

@casimirov I had such an issue once, after a day of skiing. Pressure and temperature weren’t shown on the alti/baro screen, altitude was also completely wrong. Try adjusting the altitude manually to a reasonable value through the options menu. This was the fix for me, and my A3P is still working.

                      hi @toni_v,
yep, you can create an app on movescount (hint: RESULT = SUUNTO_GPS_ALTITUDE).

I’ve already done this and everything remains the same. I still don’t have values for temperature, atmospheric pressure and altitude does not update. Possibly it was the sensor that failed, no?

Yes I’ve already done that but later during the activity the altimetry value doesn’t update and during training I don’t have altimetry values, although all gps functions work normally.

@casimirov Did you ever resolve this issue and/or contact support? I also have this same problem with my Ambit3 Peak. Example below 1) from Suunto app with barometric altitude data and 2) from Strava showing GPS altitude. I can’t really reset this manually down from 30,000 to 15!!! Thanks.

@steb24 This is a somewhat known issue. I had the same. It’s a hardware defect of the pressure sensor/chip. I didn’t get in touch with Suunto, because the watch was well out of warranty. Repairing this will in all likelihood be too expensive.

I’ve got exactly the same problem about 1.5 years ago. I still use the watch as is.
