GPS normal?
-
I did a softreset und used the Galileo combination.
It got even worse…
-
Waiting longer + using GPS Beidou combination is even worse…
I am rather clueless right now.
-
@theguyfromthesummit I have the same wobbling track, seems as if I am drunk. Posted it some weeks ago in the S9P real world data forum here. No matter what GPS settings I use.
-
@_marcus_
I thought or was hoping, that the peak has a better gps track…
Sorry to hear that.
So you just live with this? -
@theguyfromthesummit I use my Apex Pro or Vertix…more reliable/pausible track recordings. Sometimes I wear the S9P too when I want ETA/ETE for a predefined track which Coros does not offer up to now. Maybe this will change soon…
BTW I live near Garmisch.
-
-
@_marcus_ oh cool! Nice places you have there, I’m going up the Alpspitze in a couple of weeks.
-
@dmytro nice, hope you find a day with less people which way do you go up? Via Ferrata?
-
@_marcus_ yup. Yeah, I’m going up from the valley, so I’ll start the ferrata itself relatively late when people aren’t that abundant anymore.
-
@_marcus_ said in GPS normal?:
Bin dann zur Fenix 6x Pro damals gewechselt
Maybe I switch back to English, so nobody feels left out haha.
All in all I am satisfied with my S9B, but the problems are increasing…Have you tested the Fenix 6x Pro and S9B regarding tracking reliability? (better GPS track, ascent etc.?)
-
So now I checked some old data and it looks like, that Suunto did something with the software… in a bad way
2020 everything was fine
2021 GPS track is wobbly and looses the signalThe comparison clearly shows, that something went wrong in 2021. A friend of mine also recognized a drop in performance since July.
-
@theguyfromthesummit no, I only did a direct comparison with the Apex Pro and S9P wearing both on my arms.
-
@theguyfromthesummit by the way, why don’t you try snap to route if a “good” track is of importance to you? Or you don’t use predefined routes?
-
@dmytro
Sometimes I change the route during the run and so snap to route won’t work.
Even during a race the actual paths was different to the gpx track and messed up the data using snap to route.I just want the old performance back
-
@theguyfromthesummit ok, I see. Well, If you think it’s firmware related, you might want to try flashing an old one, they are linked somewhere in the forum. Beware, flashing an older FW deletes all your watch data.
-
@dmytro thanks I will have a look.
But does anyone else experience such drop in accuracy?
-
@theguyfromthesummit (Un)Fortunately not at all. I have a non-baro 9, and although I see some bad sections when the area is really hard on GNSS, I usually have a good track. Just yesterday I ran 8 km on a track, and it worked quite well (area is not covered or bad for GNSS, but nevertheless…), and on a “regular” route the track is at least not ‘nervous’.
I usually only use GPS, currently I activated Beidou and before that Galileo to check if there is any real improvement … which I do not notice in my areas.
-
@shrek3k hmmm your track look really nice.
But I guess there is not much I can do about it … -
@theguyfromthesummit just a thought - have you tried wearing your watch differently? Ie. higher or lower or maybe tighter? This is just me doing a wild guess but maybe Suunto is using motion data along GPS for its smoothing / denoising algorithm?
