GPS normal?
-
@theguyfromthesummit which GNSS are you using, GPS only or two systems?
-
@łukasz-szmigiel I am using GPS + QZSS + GLONASS and I live in Austria.
But don’t ask me, why I decided to go with those settings. I just selected them 2 years ago and back then it worked fine.
-
The track looks rather ‘nervous’ (and not good) which IMO explains the differences in distances.
I would try 1. a softreset and 2. different GNSS-combinations (pure GPS - with Beidou - with Galileo), and give the watch some time to recover from Sync / import of AGPS-data. -
@shrek3k
thanks, I will try both and this route is planned for Tuesday again. So let’s see if anything changed.Only GPS or GPS + something else for the start?
-
@theguyfromthesummit I’m in Munich and use GPS+Galileo - works just fine. But when out in the mountains I’m not really picky.
-
@theguyfromthesummit in challenging terrain usually the more the merrier as satellites are often obscured by terrain features but I wouldn’t expect wonders. Also, you might want to wait a little longer pre-start for better initial GPS reception.

so I test GPS+Glonass first
Usually I wait till the GPS symbol stops blinking, shouldn’t that be enough?
-
@theguyfromthesummit in my opinion - it should. But somehow if you wait for like 30s to a minute, it usually makes track better in the first 15 minutes of workout or so.
Personally I’d like the UI changed in regards of how GPX fix is being displayed from no fix / fix to no fix / fix / good fix.
When I have time, ie when driving by car to location, I often go to location / my location and leave the coordinates open for 15 minutes which should be enough for the watch to get current almanac. I never experienced tracking problems on trails after such preparation.

@łukasz-szmigiel
thanks!I just checked the GPS track of my hike 3h later and it is really nervous. The route my girlfriend tracked with her forerunner 945 was completely clean.
-
I did a softreset und used the Galileo combination.
It got even worse…
-
Waiting longer + using GPS Beidou combination is even worse…
I am rather clueless right now.
-
@theguyfromthesummit I have the same wobbling track, seems as if I am drunk. Posted it some weeks ago in the S9P real world data forum here. No matter what GPS settings I use.
-
@_marcus_
I thought or was hoping, that the peak has a better gps track…
Sorry to hear that.
So you just live with this? -
@theguyfromthesummit I use my Apex Pro or Vertix…more reliable/pausible track recordings. Sometimes I wear the S9P too when I want ETA/ETE for a predefined track which Coros does not offer up to now. Maybe this will change soon…
BTW I live near Garmisch.
-
-
@_marcus_ oh cool! Nice places you have there, I’m going up the Alpspitze in a couple of weeks.
-
@dmytro nice, hope you find a day with less people which way do you go up? Via Ferrata?
-
@_marcus_ yup. Yeah, I’m going up from the valley, so I’ll start the ferrata itself relatively late when people aren’t that abundant anymore.

Maybe I switch back to English, so nobody feels left out haha.
All in all I am satisfied with my S9B, but the problems are increasing…Have you tested the Fenix 6x Pro and S9B regarding tracking reliability? (better GPS track, ascent etc.?)
