      Hi all,

Anyone of you any experience with inaccuracy of the heart rate measurement on the wrist?
If I use it during my indoor rowing at home the counter on the handlebar show 130 while at the watch it runs back to a 58.
Since I’m not an athlete at all that seems not right to me. Any of the users with comparable experience?

@marcel4suunto Yes, it is pretty much inaccurate for all the activities except walking/running. That’s why we are requesting support for HR Belt which Suunto team is denying due to increased battery usage.

@marcel4suunto I think this is a general problem with all optical heart rate sensors worn on the wrist: any exercise that involves flexing your hand muscles, from rowing to weights, will constrict blood flow and throw off sensor.

Occasionally you might get lucky with rowing, especially if the watch sits higher and well away from wrist bone, but generally if what you do involves flexing hands, the sensor shouldn’t be on your wrist.
