      In the “Initial Review and Specs” thread, hardware updates are identified. I do not see a new CPU listed. Can someone explain why this is the case? It’s been almost three years since the initial release of the 9. It seems unlikely there are not faster, more powerful chips available. Thanks!

        Is this a dumb question? I am not familiar with the way watch software works, so I can envision two options.

        1. Software, e.g., the operating system, is tied to chip architecture and no new (faster/updated) chips with the architecture used in the current nine were available
        2. Chips were available but cost prohibitive.

        I purchased my nine as soon as it was released, so I keep watches for years and this is something that gives me pause when considering dropping $600 on a replacement. I’m not trying to be difficult, but processor speed could provide a bottle neck or limitations to improvements in the future. There are noticeable, though not burdensome, lags when scrolling etc. using my 9 presently.

        Thank you.

            @fazel I think suunto might be using its in-house processor, thus, new faster processor doesn’t exist yet as suunto hasn’t made one.
            Also, in the forum was mentioned that s9 wouldn’t be getting a second Suunto+ screen as it’s too heavy for the watch to handle. If sometime in the future s9p would get two or more screens that might be an indirect indicator of more powerful hardware. We’ll see I guess.

                @дима-мельниченко Hmm…in house - hadn’t thought of that.

                  @дима-мельниченко said in CPU?:

                  I don’t know if suunto has the resources to make one.
                  I think in sports watches it’s normal to not know the processor. Also software is kinda optimized so they still remain fast. But the suunto+ issue you talk is true, but could be ram also no?
                  Ambit 1 had similar “issue” with apps.

                    @andré-faria sure it can also be ram. But at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what component was changed to increase the performance.
