Data Rich Digital Watch Face for Suunto 7
-
The present few pre-installed watch faces on the Suunto 7 do not have enough data on them. There are third party watch face apps that provides such data on the Play Store but these third party apps require access to the Google account, Google Fit data and Suunto account. Some of these apps also request for full network access on the phone and watch. Will it be possible for Suunto to include some data rich digital watch face for the Suunto 7?
Data rich digital watch face to display:
★ Digital watch face - easy to read while running compared to analog watch face
★ Time
★ Date and day
★ weather info (icon + temperature)
★ Google Fit data (step counter, distance, etc)
★ Complications (battery, missed SMS, missed calls, heart rate, etc)Time, date, day, weather info, battery percentage should show on the watch face with a choice of 2-4 user selectable complications.

@pentel I think the Suunto watch faces are designed to provide the longest battery life, I have found them to be significantly better than 3rd party watch faces for battery consumption. The addition of a lot more data would defeat that purpose and there are a lot of 3rd party watch faces. A Google account is required for the watch anyway.

@brad_olwin If one finds a data rich digital watch face is draining the battery, then don’t use that watch face. Choose the existing watch faces then, choose one that works best. Those added complications are optional, you want more data on your watch, battery usage is more. But at least users have the ability to have more info on the watch as opposed to a limit of two complications now. It’s about choices. Yes, a Google account is required for the watch, I trust Suunto to grant them access to my Google account but not 3rd party developers. For that matter, if other major companies such as Microsoft, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, etc have Wear OS watch faces for download, I’ll used them without hesitation. Google Fit has a digital watch face but it comes only with two complications, if it has four complications that would meet my needs. Bottomline is I’ll install a watch face from a major company but not small 3rd party developers as it requires me to grant them access to my Google account.

The great thing about the S7 is, that you can program your own watch face to your personal preference.
No need to wait for a credible company to provide one. -
Apart from suggesting to Suunto to provide a few pre-installed data rich digital watch faces on the Suunto 7, one other suggestion is for Suunto to develop these data rich digital watch faces and put them on the Play store. Can be 100% free for Suunto 7 owners or can be a paid watch face. I’m willing to pay for such a watch face developed by Suunto for peace of mind as I do not want to grant 3rd party developers access to my Google account. Because these Suunto watch faces are on the Play store, there is no question about battery consumption. Any battery consumption issues have nothing to do with these watch faces if they are not downloaded from the Play store and installed on the Suunto 7. And hopefully with the new Wear OS coming out from Google-Samsung, all battery issues will be fixed, I’m optimistic about that since the new Samsung watches will be using the new Wear OS.

@brad_olwin - that is what the ambient screen is for. Plus could give flexibility in ambient screen i.e. whether shows complications, whether in colour or not etc, whether second hand active or not etc. etc. etc.
While I do love the suunto watch faces, they could be so much better with ability to customize i.e. change colours etc, shape/size of hands, hour markers etc.
