I am having to replace my Suunto 5 (in warranty and retailer have been excellent) because it has condensation in it at times. It has been in the water, but only at the surface (odd swim, surf or kayak).

Any views on what 50m water resistant actually means?

@logburner 50m waterproofness states that the watch is capable of withstanding 5 bar of pressure without water entering into the watch

This means 50m under water with no speed or a high speed impact on the water surface.
50m waterproof should be enough to swim with it. For high speed water sport 10atm+ (100m) is advised.

        Some background info:
https://circulawatches.com/en/5-atm-co-what-does-this-mean-on-a-watch/#:~:text=5 ATM means that a,water column of 50 meters.&text=5 ATM does not mean, water column of 50 meters.

And pressing any button under water might be considered as ok or not ?
I know that another brand advises to avoid any press to let the watch waterproof !

@vicoongrou Never tried and will never attempt to but the general advice is indeed to avoid pressing button underwater.

I used a lot of watches in high speed water sports. All 100m waterproof and never had an issue. Although I lost an Ambit 3 in the middle of a lake a couple of years ago, but I guess that one is still waterproof on the bottom until this day 😂
