Suunto 9 Peak
-
@dulko79
I for one can say: my wife enjoys a pub and a nice beer, too -
@freeheeler Excellent: doubles the odds of at least one person being able to focus on the route screen.
-
@freeheeler crawling too?
-
Fun fact, if your ctl is above 50, you can have as much as beer and vodka without worrying about next days training readiness.
-
@cosmecosta I have also been surprised by some traces of a well known person probably wearing it , a Suunto drawing perfect right angles , sign of a better gps chip detecting more quickly direction changes .
-
@chrisc92 who ?
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos well because of the embargo I cannot reveal his identity but also there seem to be GPS improvements in wooden areas
-
Well, I finally caved-in and bought a used 9 Baro from an online auction site… This way, even if the new Peak version is of interest, I might still be ‘trade up’
-
24 hours still to go.
-
Could we expect to find it in some real shops or only online at the beginning?
-
@mff73 from what I know the answer to this should come tomorrow.

The only possible better GPS chip is Sony’s new dual band GPS chip. But with dual band activated, that would require 50% more energy. I doubt that would be the case considering that the leaked battery life is exactly the same 25 hours. But perhaps that is the battery life without dual band activated, so who knows…
-
@sky-runner the better gps can come from better antenna design and better tuning of the consumption. It can also come from different chipset of Sony without dual frequency which currently is a hungry beast.
It also can come from updated firmaware, better constellation switching and management.

I like read that! Maybe it could come to the old S9 too ?
-
@ink357 yes why not. There were many GPS FW updates on S9 and I do hope more to come. It also depends on Sony in regards to that, keep that in mind.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos
it’s awesome to read this! I remember my time with Garmin… but I don’t remember this much improvements. neither on the watch nor on the (web/app) portal. -
@freeheeler everyone has a past… I feel your pain… long days in the other wathland
