Google fit syncing activities randomly
-
I’ll complete an activity using the suunto app on the watch, then the suunto app on my phone will update with the activity. However, Google fit only syncs the activity sometimes. I’ve done a few activities now and Google fit only has a record for less than half of them. Is there a specific order I’m supposed to be updating/syncing these apps (e.g. open the wear os app on my phone and connect the watch, then open the Suunto app on my phone, and then open Google for)?
Yesterday I completed an activity in the evening and Google fit wouldn’t show it. This morning it had a record for that activity so it synced while I was asleep. Any idea what I’m doing wrong here?

@suuntoman it often takes some time until the synced activities are shown in Google fit. Up to several hours.
I use instead of the connection Suunto - Google Fit SyncMyTracks (available for Android phones) to sync activities from Suunto to Google Fit. This procedure is faster and without any problems.

@pilleus thanks! Its weird cause the first couple of activities didn’t sync but now they are but with a delay. I’ll see how this keeps going and I’ll try the app you mentioned if I run in to problems with syncing

In my experience, the time gap between when the exercise is finished and when it shows up in gfit depends also on the exercise type. If I record a walk or bicycle run, the sync goes pretty fast, if I record a weight lifting session the sync does not appear before a few hours, and sometimes even a few days! This is really annoying, but I noticed that if record another “easy” activity like a walk, this somehow forces gfit to acknowledge the missed sync, and everything goes back to normal. I am not really sure if this happens to me only or it is a common issue also for other sports, so far I found it only on weight training.
SyncMyTracks works pretty well for some sports but not all of them, I used the app a lot in the initial days of the S7, when the sync to fit was really poor, but nowadays is much better and I don’t feel the need.

@suuntoman I really hope Google gets their act together with google fit. It really is terrible in my opinion. Another weird one is if an app pushes an activity to google fit, then only that app can remove it. So if you have workouts from an app you no longer have installed, there is no way to remove that activity from google fit.
I’m really glad the S7 syncs all the metrics to the Suunto app (steps, and soon sleep and hr). No need to have Google Fit on my phone anymore.
