Autolap
-
Goodnight.
My question is if there is any way to remove the autolap? All Suunto have the option but Suunto 7 has it set by default and cannot be removed. There is a possibility that in future updates you can remove the autolap. The training is very annoying because if you do a manual lap, the automatic lap will break the entire manual lap. Indispensable for series times. -
@pio221 don’t know for sure, but if other watches can do that, I also hope it’ll be implemented for the S7 soon.
-
@pio221 This is not possible, if you choose the Running Interval sport mode there is no auto lap.
-
@brad_olwin Is there hope that in a future update the autolap can be put on or taken off?
-
@pio221 I don’t know, this watch is not targeted to the users that would buy an S9, which has that capability. I wish this would change too, I rarely use auto lap.
-
@pio221 we can only hope. I’d love to see more customizability in the Suunto App on the S7. Ability to turn autolap off/on, customize the distance for a lap, etc.
Like @Brad_Olwin says the watch isn’t targeted at those who would buy an S9. That said, as the Suunto App is a Wear OS app, they should be able to continue building and expanding on it with future watches. So I guess it’s not unreasonable to expect that as they continue to fill inn the current gaps for the current market, they might start expanding the functionality by adding more advanced settings such as this. I certainly hope that’s what will happen.

Suunto entered with the S7 the world of WearOS, where variety, possibilities, customisation and the preferences of the user are present. Not what Suunto as company is thinking.
Although I am only a guy who is out there every day for several hours for cycling, kayaking, hiking and walking and not one of the top level trail runners or ultra runners, I want
- auto stop
- auto lap
- manual calibration of the altitude
- every 100 meters of ascent a message on the display
- storm and sunset alerts
- external sensors e. g. power meter, cadence, speed , heart rate.
All these features are available in WearOS apps, but not in the Suunto Wear app.
It would be no problem to include it. But up to now nothing changed.

@aleksander-h said in Autolap:
those specific requirements
are Suunto’s standards for the not WearOS Suunto watches.
Why not in WearOS?
The hardware is available in the watch, the code is available (see other WearOS apps) and Suunto has the developers.
-
@pio221 you could use the interval running mode. It doesn’t have autolap just the manual lap

@pilleus comes down to priorities and I think that apart from the heavy updates to route navigation, their priorities have been right on the money. This is a full smartwatch first with diversity feature of the best fitness suite for a full smartwatch.
You are now asking to add are more features around full fitness watches / enduro fitness watches - to me these absolutely have to be behind the updates they have done so far:
1st Update: Get suunto app as main driver for health features.
2nd Update: Route navigation (not essential and off the main focus - but a fantastic diversity edge that is a selling point to both markets (full smarts and fitness).
3rd Update: was more of bug fix for the crashing issue generated by H MR2 (other wear os watches are experiencing issues around the same feature i.e. silence phone).
4th Update: the one we have now - body resources, sleep tracking, 24/7 HR, improved route navigation.Comparing this to your list (note - auto lap already available) - would take their list over yours every day; and I think the majority of users would probably agree with me. What they have done makes far more sense for the watch and its market focus.

No problem, I take the watch which has auto stop, auto laps, external sensors, sunset alarm and more. These features I do not need on a smartwatch in the house or in the office, I need it outdoor while hiking, walking, biking or kayaking.
And my Suunto 7 can take a break on the side board …

@isazi ticwatch pro 2020 has that feature (but It is still to far away from our watch )
