Importing GPX routes into Suunto App - trackpoint limits

As I understand it, in movescount, the GPX importer would simplify a supplied track down to whatever limit the watch has (1000 points?).
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Suunto app GPX importer does not thin the GPX out, and this can truncate longer routes. So it is necessary to reduce the number of trackpoints manually before import.
Is that correct, or have I mis-understood?
If so, what is the trackpoint limit I need to work to?
(I’ve got a Spartan Ultra, if it makes a difference.)Thanks,

Both SA and MC simplify the route to 1K trackpoints including the start + end point.
There is no route cropping.
