Optical HR seems to pick up running cadence
-
After several runs with my new S5 I have the feeling that the optical HR sensor picks up the cadence and mistakes it for heart rate quite often. Where I run itβs quite cold right now - so that may lead to a bad HR reading anyway. But I wonder if someone had the same experience. For me, even when starting a slow/long run very easy, HR goes quickly up to some value around 175 (close to my normal cadence), but from a lot of experience, I am absolutely sure that this is off by at least 30 beats.
Testing right wrist, it was slightly better, but still happened. Hope there is some Firmware Update soon, that could improve this issue. -
I would say it is expected behavior. A whr sensor works best with little vibration. When the speed is increased, the watch is subjected to more jolts and the data tries to be skewed. You can try to change your running style slightly, keeping your wrist closer to your shoulder to try to keep it more stable.
The change of wrist can certainly be useful. I on the dominant wrist, the right one, have much better readings.
Yes, in the future I believe that the WHR firmware will be updated.

@Saketo-Nemo you are referring to a new firmware or hardware?

@dulko79
absolutely firmware update, software. and it is my hope, not a security -
Iβve wondered if wearing an old-school wristband below the watch would help.
