Suunto 7 - Interval training and/or training plans
-
@Brad_Olwin - and I think this is partially what causes a lot of the confusion when comparing to the rest of the S range - it has same look, the app looks similar; in fact everthing pretty much says its the same line; so users of the other models expect similar functionality.
Suunto may have been better off giving it another designator to point out it really isn’t part of the same line.Saying that I still think they should provide the missing pieces - simply from a strategic market perspective and the opportunity to differentiate themselves and own that growing market share. I could understand if this was a cheaper product where that investment may not make sense, but when viewing the market share/competing models this is a premium product, a differentiator and would benefit covering the gaps that are missing compared to competitor models.

@Aleksander-H from what I have “fished” is basically C++/Assembly . ITs completely a Suunto thing.
But I am not sure about the UI etc. That I have no clue. Could be anything from xml/html to QT but I would doubt about QT.
Do you happen to know if the dev team find development on Wear OS to be easier than on platforms such as S5/S9, or merely different?
Sorry. This is the last non-topic related question I’ll ask here
-
@Aleksander-H I would bet its easier on wearOS when you are building something new.

there once was a success story online from a small company which presented their coding base was being used in Suunto Spartan.
It has now disappeared from their website - and I can’t find it right now. maybe someone still remembers? -
@sartoric
this link doesn’t directly answer the question from @Ricardo-Rodríguez … it is an old thread and since then Suunto has made progress in the interval section.
it is not very obvious to everyone what models are compatible with Suunto Plus Guides.
I don’t have an S7 anymore, but if I get it right, Suunto Plus Guides and Features are only available for S3, 5 and 9.
Hence: in my understanding it is not possible to setup interval training as we see it in other Suunto models.
However @Brad_Olwin suggested to look for 3rd party apps, maybe this helps @Ricardo-Rodríguez ? -

That’s the main answer, for S7, imho

S7 owners are probably as screwed as Spartans and previous generations. Don’t expect anything from Suunto.

Well, I don’t feel screwed, maybe unlucky because of the old hardware, but not screwed.
I just miss the good’ol planner, that I still hope in it’s comeback -

Suunto Plus Guides
Thanks, @freeheeler. When I try to set up structured work, I received a brief pop up message saying “watch is not compatible”: Suunto is informing me, but perhaps they can be a bit clearer.
Please, what I should expect when I select Running Interval mode available in my watch?
Thanks!

what do you mean? the question is not clear to me.
does SA say you can select intervals for the watch? -
@Brad_Olwin, please, have you succeeded to find a third party application to manage interval training with your S7? Thanks!
