New to this forum so apologies if this has been answered before, but I’m pulling my hair out here.
I want to create my own routes and use them with my Traverse watch. I’ve got the Suunto app, and I can create routes on there, but I can’t upload them from there to my watch (says this article)
I could upload from Movescount to my watch, but I can’t create new routes in Movescount directly since so much of the functionality has been decommissioned – i.e. you can’t search the map any more, and there’s no view of altitude changes or time estimates, basically zero useful functionality.
Finally I also can’t seem to export the routes I create on the Suunto app, since there’s no export option for new routes (only routes that you’ve previously recorded). So I can’t export from Suunto app into Movescount to then upload to my Traverse.

Maybe there’s some other highly-convoluted way of doing this that I haven’t thought of, but please – if anyone knows how to get a new route onto a watch tell me now!

Create a route in Movescount by importing there your route gpx file. And get this gpx file from any other services you want (app, web). The route you can create in SA, and you can get the gpx from there : go to your route and use the “share” function, it will propose you many sharing options and you will get there a link to download the route gpx file to be imported in MC.

@Mff73 I tried your suggestion – I used the “Share” function on the new route I had created in the Suunto app, but when I tried to upload that into movescount it gave me a wrong file type error and wouldn’t upload.
Have you done this yourself? Is there a step I could be missing?

@jtp2020 Did you upload a web address (the link to the route file from SA’s share) or the route file (“whatever.gpx” you would have downloaded from following that link)? Could you have missed that download-gpx-file-before-uploading-to-MC step?

@Fenr1r you were totally right, of course – thank you! I saved the file instead of copying the link. It worked now. So it’s:

              1. Share from Suunto app on phone
              2. Copy link
              3. Send/download to your computer
              4. Upload into Movescount
              5. Use route in watch

I really hope they’re going to let us do this direct from the app before they get rid of Movescount… 😕

@Fenr1r I think I spoke to soon… I uploaded the route to Movescount and synced my watch with the Suunto app, but the route isn’t on there. Do I have to sync the watch with the old Moveslink app as well?

@jtp2020 Not the old app: the new SuuntoLink PC/MacOS program + charging/syncing cable.

If you are currently using Moveslink2, uninstall the program and download SuuntoLink by clicking here*. Connect your Suunto watch to your computer via the supplied cable.

                  =RouteExportShareLink->DLgpx->Upload2MC->SyncViaCableToComputerRunningSuuntoLink.

*UK DL link. No idea if it makes a difference.

@Fenr1r thank you – that worked. 🙂 What a process though!

Thanks to @Fenr1r to clarify the process :), but i thought you had known how to sync from MC to watch, as you said :

@jtp2020 said in Routes from Suunto App to Movescount to Watch... is it possible?:

btw, good news you managed to do this process 🙂 (but not as different as before SA, except to export route gpx from SA and use it as 3rd route gpx creator for MC import).
