Day to day Improvements

I think this is a very good thread discussion @qwerty1234, and very important for the development of the watch. It would be good to have a list with all the propositions, and people could vote for them or add a new one if it’s not on the list.
About the propositions list of @qwerty1234 :
- I think the same as @Egika , there is confirmation required, so it wouldn’t be necessary in my opinion.
- Official watchfaces. -> I agree. +1. The most beautiful and efficient are the suunto watchfaces, but we have only a few (for example the new suunto 9 baro watchface).
- Official development for the sensors. -> I agree +1. I add an Altimeter to the list.
- I agree. +1
- I agree. +1. For me it would be perfect to select the hours you want the watch in airplane mode (this is something very usual in other watches), for example during the night.
I would add to the list this features (after one month with the S7 ) :
6. when following a route, the screen with the altitude should show the profile of the route you are following, and the point in which you are. (this is something that it is already implemented in other suunto watches)
7. Autopause. It is very useful to have it when you stop during your activity. (drinking water, watching the map, taking photos, etc)
8. The physical button on the center-right, activates lots of times unintentionally, for example on the bike or doing exercise in the gym. So it would be perfect the possibility to lock this button during activity.
9. To create series with times for exercise and pauses. I would use this funcionality in the gym, but it would be also useful for runners. What do you think about my new propositions?
-
1- fine as is.
2- Would be great for more, or alternatively allow that functionality for all 3100 watch faces.
3- agree, but would like sleep first.
4- agree. Body status - already have recovery time, but would be good if there was a tile for that showing adds/decreases and if steps/sleep etc all factored into that recovery time.
5- Profiles would be awesome, but not essential. Low Power mode, bit like the Oppo would be an awesome win, especially if there were a couple of basic watch face choices, but also like the Oppo it needs to be quick to transition between (ideally would have time (digital/analogue option), battery, steps included in display.
6. meh?
7. Autopause. yes please.
8. I lock the button, so at worst just changes screen. Not a big issue.
9. auto lap, FITT training fuctionality. Strength Training can also do with massive improvement - take a look at Google Fit - one of the best I have seen for strength training - blows away rest of competition. But would be good to pull this sort of detail in companion app in a much more readable way too.
10. option to disable screen while excercise when watch is not used, then wake it with tilt to wake when needed (from masi0) - i.e. turn off always on data screen to improve battery life with tilt to wake i.e. what we used to have prior to always on tracking screen - yes if it increases battery life - could be Enduro mode!.
11. Treking GPS option - ability to have GPS only take a reading every 5 minutes with HR reading (or possibly longer) - intent to produce an Enduro type battery life (note Casio Trek has this and can see the sense and benefit, plus suspect its a really easy enhancement).Twin with prior point too.
12. Suunto app External bluetooth sensor integration.
13. 24/7HR through suunto app - would suspect this could be done through co-processor and thus done with less battery usage than google fit app does? -
Hi! I add one thing that I forgot before:
14. Following a route, when the screen of the map is in save battery mode, now it shows a black background and a symbol of your position. It would be perfect to add a white line with the route you are following, just to check that your are in the correct direction and saving lot of battery because it doesn’t show the map. -
@qwerty1234 Good suggestions.
2- been asking for this too, many times and often.
3.- sleep time: I believe this is requested by many users, I think it is difficult to implement but likely a priority for Suunto
- stress: would love to see this too
- barometer yes, yes, yes
4
- HR zones: I have been asking for this as a tester since day 1!
- zones for speed/pace would be great too but HR zones more important!
- body status/stress could these be the same?
5
-Time alarms: This might help for now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ironysoft.theatermodeschedule- The battery saver mode is just that, if sensors are engaged I doubt it would be battery saver mode.

Thanks for your words!
I hope we will see another update soon, last updates have arrived every two months, and I believe suunto is aware that if they consider the S7 more smartwatch than sportwatch (as they often say) they must improve so much the health features of it, or new customers will choose other cheaper options (apple watch, garmin venu, ticwatch, samsung active 2…), and would be a great publicity also for Black Friday / Christmas campaign. With Suunto know-how it could be a fantastic smartwatch with good sport features or a fantastic sportwatch with good smart features, they chose the first one (and I’m very happy with this) but now still being just “good” in both options, or at least not fantastic.
Lets see!

Related with the battery saver mode, I just was suggesting that it becomes the watch into a pedometer, instead of a classic watch, or at least into an old Casio.
How much battery could use the stepcounter? i was thinking in the fist Xiaomi Miband. -
Has anything changed in terms of HR zones settings?
-
@Maryn no, not It is possible yet
-
Still waiting an update… Any info revealed until now and I don’t now why, that would help with the sales
-
@qwert12 There are those on the forum that know what the next firmware will bring but cannot divulge the information due to NDAs. It is unlikely you will get useful information asking this way.
-
@Brad_Olwin thanks for the info, we do understand and appreciate that details can’t be given out (as much as we’d all love to know).
However, is anyone able to give us an idea of when the next update might be released please? Even something such as within the next couple of weeks, or by the end of the year, would give us something

It should be done/launched when it is done.
As in every launching of product/firmware it needs testing, and problems/bugs occur, so launching dates get delayed.
I believe Suunto is focusing on launching stable updates and not just number updates. -
@André-Faria I fully appreciate that, it’s just that I am hoping this update will fix a problem that I (and a number of others) have with the S7 at the moment. There is a work around but it is frustrating to have to do it. I was just hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel as to when it may be resolved
-
@olymay Suunto knows about this problem and is actively testing fixes.
-
@Brad_Olwin Thanks Brad, I’m confident that Suunto will fix it
I was just wondering if there was a rough timescale on when an update might come. No worries if not.
