Movescount EOL - What does this mean for Ambit3 Peak?

Please can someone clarify two things for me, and apologies if this information is above, or in the announcement, but I’ve failed to see it; at least not clearly.
- Without a [smart]phone, is there any way to get moves from my Ambit3P to somewhere such as Strava? And if there is, how please?
- Will it still be possible to create new routes, with waypoints in Movescount after the ‘transition’?
Thanks.
1 - for this you only need a phone app for a minute or two to just set up connections between Suunto & Strava + perhaps review those default privacy settings. And you can connect to some services (like Runalyze ) even without the app: if Suuntolink allows you to create an account, do that there, if not, create account at https://www.sports-tracker.com/ and use those same credentials with Suuntolink; head over to your service of choice (e.g. Runalyze.com ) and connect it to Suunto.
2 - as you already seem to sync only through cable, you only have to replace your existing Moveslink2 with Suuntolink and make sure its connected to both of your accounts - SuuntoApp & Movescount. Rest of the workflow will remain exactly the same (at least according to information provided to us until now).

@margusl That’s great - is there then just a specific folder I put the resulting files in for SuuntoLink to recognise and transfer them?
This - https://gist.github.com/marguslt/a79ea204f99b45ab015b6ed1ff7529a4#file-mc-workout-termlog-txt - should give you an idea of how workouts are created and handled, while this test took place in linux, main tools - http ( https://httpie.org/ ) & jq - should run just fine in Windows too.
That’s great - thank you!
Do you happen to know the URIs/POSTs to delete and/or inactivate workouts from the device?

Active workouts are controlled by array of RuleIDs in settings json:
https://gist.github.com/marguslt/a79ea204f99b45ab015b6ed1ff7529a4#file-20-settings_template-json-L7
Updating those settings with a single RuleID (13670761) and put takes place here:
https://gist.github.com/marguslt/a79ea204f99b45ab015b6ed1ff7529a4#file-mc-workouts-sh-session-L208Also a word of warning,
resetchangedsettings
(either true or false ) seems to be required for changes to take effect, but it can also mess up / reset some of your settings in Movescount (e.g I lost all deactivated sport modes, for good). So I’d create another Movescount account before playing round with this. It’s easy to switch between different Movescount accounts in Suuntolink, just keep multiple copies of%AppData%\Suuntolink\suuntolink_data.json
For deleting a Workout from account you can use delete request:
http delete https://uiservices.movescount.com/userdevices/rules/13670761
though not really sure what happens if you delete a used workout, there doesn’t seem to be too many fail safe routines in place (e.g. if you don’t set a rule type to ‘guidance’ for Workouts, they will show up under http://www.movescount.com/apps#sorting=5&type=1 … ) -
I don’t smoke and can spent the money not smoked use to buy a new watch every second year at last. It’s stupid, I actually don’t want to do it and it’s not sustainable. But that’s another question.
Having given this some thought, I may have a solution.
Take your notional “I don’t smoke” fund and apply it elsewhere, to something with lasting value. Like disease research or a wine collection.
Back to watches: have you considered a notional “I don’t do meth” fund?

Still silence about the route elevation bug

@margusl Very helpful, and actually enouraging too. Thanks very much.

And if You ever felt special, with Your 30% discount as an Ambit/Travers user, now everybody can have it who follows Kilian Jornet on IG.

@Gábor-Tóth for 24 hours, while yours will last 6 months. Complaining for the sake of complaining you are, young padawan

@isazi Not sure I agree with you there, Ben. The symbolism is strong here. And stop hanging around your uncle’s school.

EPOC & V02 max values is still present in specs
You dont get post workout with an ambit epoc and running index ?
For Ambits none of it is accessible from Suunto App .
Looks like I have to take some if back - SA indeed reports performance (running index), at least with lates beta. Not really sure if this was delivered with some late updates or I just kept picking runs that are handled differentli (i.e. orienteering activities). I also found EPOC… but only from activities that were transfered from Movescount …

@margusl could I have a link or a workout id

But where do you actually create a route if Movescount website is disappearing?
Thanks. -

Take a look at this. Plotaroute & Mapy.cz are among those I’ve clocked still getting happy mentions. Perhaps @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos’s QS site developed something neat as well, since that thread went dormant.
And search elsewhere in the forum for “route”.
-
@Fenr1r Thanks for the quick reply, but I can’t quite grasp where you put that gpx file created with plotaroute, for example? (I have Ambit3 Run watch and the Suunto app doesn’t transfer the routes to my watch)
-
@collarteapot suunto decided ambit3 will use bt only to sync activities. And no routing support for a3p in suunto app. So the only way is to use movescount, suunto link and cable.
-
Hi,
Sorry, I’m not fluent in english and I’m a bit confused with latest news and messages in this forum.
I’m already using SA to sync my activities. But I’m using MC App too, because I need it to adjust settings of the A3P and to setup and sync interval workouts given by my coach.
I understood that in october MCApp will definitely stop to work. I understood that adjusting settings of the watch will be done on movescount (web) and synced with Suuntolink (I’m already using it). Same for routes.
Ok, but what about interval workout ? As far I know, it is only possible to setup duration, repetitions and others things thru the MC App. So, when it will be stopped, how to do that ? I’m not sure with the november transition update. Interval workouts will be officially dropped and unusable on the watch ? Even with a cable and Suuntolink, it will be a lesser evil than a total drop, but there is nothing on MC web.
I read previous posts about JSON files and others things… Are you searching for a hack to maintain this because it will be dropped ?
Thank you.
-
@collarteapot according to Suunto communication, you will still be able make routes with Movescount.
-
@Janfi yes some people are looking for a solution to the issue of workouts not being available anymore.
