Latest Suunto 7 Update lost key features
-
The latest update I got on my Suunto 7 watch caused some useful features to disappear. I used to get notifications from my Nest camera when someone would come to my door with a small snapshot image. Now I just get the notification with no image, but instead a link to open on Phone (I have a Samsung S10). The point of that feature was that I could check my watch and not have to open my phone. I also lost the ability to reply back to text messages with canned responses (“Ok”, “Thanks”, “No”, “Yes”, etc.) That was also replaced with a link to open on Phone.
I’m not sure what the reasoning was to remove these features, but it’s a real bummer. Perhaps it was a battery saving enhancement? If there’s a way to turn that back on, I don’t know how to do it.
Any help would be appreciated.

@Michael-Zendel which apps? I have no issues with WhatsApp.

It’s part of the general notification system, not a specific app. When Nest sends a notification to my phone that there is someone at my door, I used to see a snapshot image from the doorbell camera. Now, I do not. With text messages, I used to be able to respond to the text from my watch with either canned responses, or even use a small keyboard to type replies. Now, I cannot.

@Michael-Zendel iOS, Android? For me, Android, nothing changed with notifications.

@Michael-Zendel - mine still work fine.
Have you checked the watches notification settings to make sure you haven’t disabled any of them.
Have you checked the phones wear os companion app to make sure that the notifications are still enabled there.Assume that DND is not on; and that watch isn’t in cinema mode.
If on android what version - Android 11 or 10 as there does seem to be some bugs with android 11 working with latest version of wear os.

Hi Jamie,
I did check all of the notification settings, and nothing has changed. It’s not that I’m not getting notifications, it’s that the new notifications are offering less content than they did previously. I get Nest notifications when someone comes to my door, but now with an option to open on my phone to see the image. I don’t want to open my phone, I want to see the snapshot on my watch without going to my phone like I was able to up until this last update.Thanks,

@isazi I have Android (Samsung Galaxy S10) version 10.

@Michael-Zendel - probably due to nest updates, as I get whatsapp photos in notifications without any issues, suggesting that it isn’t wear os restricting it.
