Always on display and swimming

@Jamie-BG correct
-
I guess cause there’s no drilling mode and when you’re training they won’t get captured e.g. drills, kicking etc so I use manual laps to keep an idea on that.
Thanks

@herlas have you looked at the swim app on the play store. Been a while since I last used it and know it has been updated. May have some solutions for you. If no auto link to suunto app you could probably use SyncMyTracks or similar to pull into suunto app.
-
Can you share link? I haven’t tried anything out of the built in Suunto app, heard it’s the one we should use, concerned with external apps as Suunto 7 battery lifetime is already a challenge, don’t want to eat more than currently eating
-
@herlas App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spiraledge.swimapp&hl=en
I used to use in on my Ticwatch S2 as google fit didn’t have swim tracking. Can’t remember all the features and exactly what it contained, as so far have only been able to do some open water swimming and I used the Suunto app for that (prior to latest September update).
It may use more battery, you will have to check and find out. Unless you are swimming or over 3 hours you will probably have enough battery to last the day.
Am surprised you think the S7 battery life is a challenge. I would think that it would easily track a swim session and have enough to make it through to that evening or the next day. Are you remember to put your watch in flight mode only prior to going in the pool (if not that could be part of your battery issue).
-
Well, I also track other sports, so that’s why I sometimes don’t make it through a single charge.
Thanks for sharing the app.
Back on the original issue, if it’s confirmed lap button (lower right) randomly goes to open the app that is user mapped for that button, sounds like we need to look for a bug where somehow alter latest update started happening, my first guess is when using AOD, still to be confirmed tho -
@herlas - weird, as when I am in the suunto app, the lap button only seems to work for that app i.e. add a manual lap time, with a long press opening the suunto app settings (where the right buttons then become up and down buttons).
-
So how do you all handle swimming with Suunto App then? Does the screen powers off while swimming or there is an option to disable touch screen while swimming?
-
@masi0 not sure as haven’t had a chance to swim yet since sept update. Based on info suunto provided touch screen is supposed to be locked when you are in swim mode and on data screen, so suspect the three right buttons, top to start, pause, centre to lock change screen, bottom to set manual lap, end session, long press to get to options, then top and bottom to scroll in options menu and middle to select. Works like that for rest of activities.
