S7 Staged release
-
@jorgefd78 first I got a perfect 10s-fix track yesterday and then on the next ride I got this with cycling
-
@Egika fusedtrack is based in arm movement so I suppose the algorithms while running are better than cycling
-
@jorgefd78 probably. In cycling the arm moves much less.
-
@jorgefd78 same day. morning perfect, afternoon bad.
Suunto is marketing this new fused track to work with both running and cycling. The track looks like the FusedTrack algo tried to always steer away and got caught by the GPS point regularlyâŚ
FusedTrack does not necessarily need to rely on arm movement. It is basically integration of direction and acceleration. this can work with any sports in theory - while in practice Suunto has calibrated it for running (and cycling?) primarily.
I am just saying that the claim ârunning and cyclingâ does have room for improvement for cyclingâŚ
-
personally wouldnât use it for cycling as would think that a 10s reading could cause issues like this due to the distance that can be covered. Slower sports like walking, running, SUP etc should be fine. Also not sure I would use it for hiking either due to evelation issues and area definition where you may need to make dramatic adjustments for features.
Though is a bit surprising on this track as it is so straight.
-
@Egika - Great suggestion - quite right - a reboot sorted the issue.
-
Any chance we may see some of the S3/S5/S9 features that were dropped?
Would be great to have similar watch screen functionality with barometer etc.
Would also be great to have that locked point/navigation function,
And would be nice to have the loop, cadence and other tracking improvements.Any reason, other than including in coding, as to why the S7 couldnât have those excellent features too?

+1, Letâs see if next updates the S7 to SuuntoPlus and the new watchface.

I would not complain if it wasnât in the release notes:
âWhen running or cycling, FusedTrack is used to improve tracking quality.âThis is new in the S7 compared to FusedTrack implementation in S9, so I had hopesâŚ
-
@Bulkan - would be great to have the S9 watch face as an optional watch face or even better as a possible tracking screen that can be added, along with other s9 tracking screens and as possible tile. Would be awesome to have a weather barometer tileâŚ

And others little things that in my opinion should be easy to add, for example:
- autopause
- ability to setup heart rate or rhythm alarms
- ability to setup a time or distance targets
- if the S7 has a barometer, why not a storm alarm?
- in the current activity (running, etc) by default the current time is showing, but is small size, a lot of people use glasses, please, increas this font.
These ares basics things to have a better watch.
Thanks.

According to the spec sheet, S7 already has âvarious options via Google Playâ Store doing this.
So far noone has found an app that actually does it⌠-

So far noone has found an app that actually does itâŚYes of course, we can use 3rd party applicationâs, but I my opinions that basic things should be natives in the suunto apk. For example an alarm for heart rate, if I tracking my exercise with suunto this alarm ahould be managed by suuntoâŚ
-
@makzam yes, thatâs definitely valid for a function inside the Wear App.
I was just (sarcastically) commenting on the storm alarm one - which is not something i would require from activity recording.
And still I am waiting for this 3rd party app (and hoping for someone posting a link hereâŚ) -
@Egika these small things are include in others watches, for example in my old spartan, why not here if this watch is newest and with better specs?
I dont talking about complex things, these are basics characteristics.
Please suunto, listen us!!I dont know if there is a place to do petitions or request improvements¿¿¿???
Thanks again.

@makzam itâs this forum that has been orinigally started to do exactly this: collect user input and prioritize it for Suuntoâs product and portfolio management. To be precise this was meant to happen for the App only. And it works by voting for the various suggestions.
So if your wish getâs enough votes, it will show up in a report and probably be consideredNow, I guess (and this is only my personal impression), that the different models from Suunto differ by featues according to the targeted user.
S9B is the more outdoor flagship, while S7 is primarily a smartwatch with Suunto built quality and compatibility with itâs app. Battery runtime does not make it ideal for multiday outdoor adventures - and with this (and the possibility to program stuff by oneself) comes the dismission of storm alarm.
Not that I like it - I am just trying to explain the priorities that happen somewhere in every company with limited ressources. -
@Egika yes yes, that is clear for miâŚbut if suunto wants be the best, should be offers the best.
And in my opinion I am not requesting complex things, (in my opinion) are basics things that others cheapers smartwatch has.
I appreciate your answers, thanks a lot. -

I appreciate your answers, thanks a lot.I think @Egika stated it fairly clearly. The S7 is not marketed or targeted to a user that would purchase an S9. Whether that is a good idea or not could be debated but IMHO Suunto wanted to make the S7 as easy to use as possible for the âUrban Athleteâ. Frankly, I am pleasantly surprised by the recent updates as again IMHO they are more targeted to an S9 user or S5. I have some of the same issues you do. As the S7 stands today, if I did not have one I would now purchase one to complement my S9 even though I am an iPhone user. I used an Apple Watch for some time and while it is a better smart watch, the exercise options even with 3rd party apps are nowhere near as good as the S7. I could get ~12h on my AW4 if using connected GPS on the iPhone (the watch alone maybe 6-8h max). Now the S7 can go close to 15hâŚamazing!
I do not think you will see parity of S7 with other watches as they serve different markets but it doesnât hurt to ask and I vote too.
