Suunto 5 not showing VO2Max
-
You did 40km, but how many activities ?
Did you try a soft reset ? Maybe something is stuckIf it doesn’t work , I would contact support
-
Around 3-4 activities, support told me the data might be not enough, I did soft reset and yesterday I factory reset it too.

@tfanlegacy stupid question, is HR enabled?
Which are the figures of the last one? Max/min/avgBR
-
HR is enabled, Max 196, Min79, Avg159 for my last 5K run. I did change the default Min and Max HR to match my own when I set up the watch at the very beginning.

Last questions
Are you on latest FW? 2.11.38
https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Support/Software-updates/Release-notes/suunto-5-software-updates/
,Did you see some indications in VO2Max screen on the watch?
“If the watch hasn’t estimated your fitness level yet, the fitness level display will instruct you further.”https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Support/Product-support/suunto_5/suunto_5/features/fitness-level/

Yes, I am on the latest 2.11.38 FW.
Yes, I can still see "The watch hasn’t estimated your fitness level yet, the fitness level display will instruct you further.’ It asks me to record about 15 minutes of walking with GPS enabled etc…Do you know how the algorithm calculate the value ? Perhaps some values are out of range ? Being a programmer myself I have got to ask, as the watch does not provide any error message.
-
is the heart rate graph reliable? If you have the chance, try running with a hr belt.
If the whr goes to bananas, the value will not be calculated -
The HR graph on my last run was continuous and I don’t have a belt so…
I guess I am just going to try logging some activities in 3 days continuously see how it goes. What I don’t understand is that on the same day when we bought the watch, my wife got her Vo2 Max on the first day with just a short 15 minutes walk. -
Yup, it works also with a sufficiently intense walk.
To me, the only times he gave problems, it was precisely when the cardiac data was not stable enough. The walk, bringing less vibrations to the watch, certainly favors the reading of cardiac data on the wrist. -
@tfanlegacy What about a new factory reset and giving it to your wife for a test? You wrote she has her own S5 and it works for her. So you’ll immediatelly see whether it’s the watch or you
-
@Saketo-Nemo I guess it was me
Finally, got the Vo2Max from my watch so let me summarize everything, so we can close this thread.
When I got the watch, I set up every thing and
- Did a 15 minutes walk with HR and GPS as instructed (No Vo2)
- Did a 10K run on the 3rd day -> no Vo2
- Did 10K walk and some other run every other day, all with HR and GPS
During the time I tried soft reset, which did not help, also have done other activities do not calculate Vo2Max(rock climbing etc). - So I factory reset it (about 3 weeks after I got the watch).
- Did a 5K run yesterday and a 3K walk
- Repeated the same 5K course today and finally got the fitness value on my watch.
As a programmer and technical support person I would assume
- Something stuck before the factory reset or
- My personal data combine with data from my exercise pattern somehow out range the algorithm and did not trigger the calculation.
Anyway, I finally got it and happy ending is it. Thank you all for the suggestion.
