S7 and preinstalled stuff
-
I have had the S7 for about one week and sent it back because I do not like to have a watch capable of sleep tracking but need to be charged it every night … and that WearOS brought some change in user experience to me, still not clear if I like it…
But besides of it I really loved it! EXCEPT: It’s coming with lots of WarOS apps(widgets?, whatever the correct term is) where most of them are useless for me.
Q: can I get rid of them as like I can even remove Apple apps from my iPhone? I didn’t try and have no S7 anymore, but still thinking of getting one because of the great display (compared to my S9)

@johann-fuehrer
Firstly regarding charging and sleep tracking:
I am not aware my S7 can track my sleep (at least not in a way it would integrate into the Suunto App).
But: I charge my watch daily after waking up. Charging is very quick, so after taking a shower, brushing my teeth and getting dressed it is already back at 100% battery. If there was sleep tracking it would work fine with this routine. Definitely no need to have it plugged all night. Now for your question regarding pre-installed features:
It depends.
Google Fit for example can be uninstalled. Most of the system services can be disabled in the settings if you don’t want them.
It makes sense to be more specific about what you wanted to get rid of for a more precise answer. -
@johann-fuehrer I use the S7 during the week and my S9 on the weekends for all my long runs. I have an iPhone so the S7 does not interact as well as it does with an Android phone. But the watch records all that I do except sleep. I suspect the watch will get native sleep tracking at some point in time. I like the watch as it is easy to see my schedule and the weather (MyRadar Pro app). I can do 2h-3h of exercise and the watch will run all day and all night on my wrist. Although it does not track sleep, it will track HR all night via Google Fit. You can uninstall some of the apps that are on the watch from the box.
For workouts, I do not need an HR strap, the OHR is so good that it matches my belt when I wear the S9 and S7 together on runs. I like not having to wear a belt every time I run. The OHR on the S7 works well for intervals too for me. -
@Brad_Olwin @Egika Maybe the sleep tracking was in my mind because of the S9 expecting that S7 has had it also (some time has passed by since I had the S7).
I have a chest belt (Suunto & H10) , but because the S9 OHR works really fine for me, I do not use it. But as Brad mentioned S9 & S7 he uses: how can I add second (third) watch to Suunto app? Did I miss something here. I like to have my A3 connected as well. -
@johann-fuehrer you can do as Brad usually suggests, and disconnect one watch and then connect the other one in the Suunto App.
Just make sure it stays in the list of Bluetooth devices of the phone.
This is rather quick.I myself have two phones, an old iPhone 6S that is connected to my S9 and an iPhone 8 that is connected to my S7. Both sync to the same account

@johann-fuehrer On iOS it is much easier than Android I believe. I have several watches connected to the same phone (won’t say how many) but I simply disconnect one and connect the other without changing their BT connection. It is not an ideal solution but works. Your steps, calories and sleep (if you use a watch other than S7) as well HR (if you use a watch other than S7) will show for the day activities as aggregated from all the watches.
