Afaik atm there won’t be any support for Bluetooth sync of settings / routes with the SUUNTO app for A3 etc.
There will be a new website and that will sync only with cable and will be enabled only for A3 etc.
I am writting this in order to not raise hopes
If you read the announcements that is also said there. A3 etc will sync only via cable.
thanks god. at lest honest answer from one

@zvonejan the same you can find in official statement from Suunto.

Well yes and no. They did announce the cable sync and new movescount web but I don’t think they ever explicitly said Suunto app will not support sync of settings and routes with bluetooth ever. Dimitrios was finally very clear about this. Unfortunatelly they are still selling Ambit3 with “wireless watch customization” in specs in official Suunto website which is pretty lame if you ask me. They are deceiving buyers.

s. Looking for alternatives right now… I gladly supported Suunto for being European company and for built quality they are offering with their lineup but since Anta acquired them, things are going in direction I don’t like anymore. Oh well…
fair point. Using a special browser, I was once able to load the desktop site of movescount on my iphone. That made it possible to upload a gpx file I created using an other app. then sync wireless - and the track was on my watch. very convenient to do this while on the trail!! haha, maybe someone will come up with a cable sync app for mobile phones - then we could at least bring the cable and hook it up to the phone

Yes, I was even looking for a way to install windows virtual machine to do that but it was to complicated so I gave up. This would be trivial for suunto to create. Actually they already have it. It’s called Movecount app But I guess they decided that their customers will not be needing that anymore.

Well, I suppose it could be argued that it is wirelessly customizable (like pretty much all watches on which you can alter anything - including time). You can tailor several basic settings on the watch itself. Although there might be small wires inside it …

I still have the movescount app installed and use it all the time (don’t have the suunto app). I hope it will run on ios14. haha - great idea with the VM!!!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos , kudos for spelling it out.
Is there a hope for any development towards Ambit-line? E.g. missing power data ( from Stryd, in my case ) is pretty annoying, I don’t much care if it’s shown in the SA or not, but not having it available for 3rd party services is really getting on my nerves - Stryd Powercenter sync just ignores all SA activities without power. -

For cycling no such luck.
I use A3P for its clear Screen view in difficult Conditions. When its muddy I just wipe sapphire screen with a finger and can see clearly dark or sunny.
On S9B when I wipe mud off I see smeared glare mess, I found it rather inconvenient to carry a bottle of windex and wipes on bike or while running. It’s more of an dirt free training watch.

To get all Stryd metrics, I need to go through offline sync with Stryd app anyway, that’s not an issue. What I’m pissed at is not having a track along Stryd metrics in Powercenter ( Powercenter normally pulls it from a watch manufacturer’s data store and merges with stryd data, but only if the activity includes power) and not having power in TrainingPeaks (unless I connect TP with Stryd and manually deal with duplicates).

Thats true, Stryd does not merge if activity has no power.

I hate that as well and I still push and won’t stop

Again just to be clear.
The only basic (feature) that is gone is workout planner. That was done via the app only.
The "new " movescount will provide all route planning yadi yada but not the activity view etc.
It’s said on the announcements as well.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks a lot!! A3P is still my favorite watch and going strong after many peaks and years…

-
@tomhaegler Nope

And of course “wireless watch customization” Well technically that’s more than one feature. It’s more like offline/online watch settings, sport modes customization, syncing of routes and POI-s with phone app. And there was also very nice second screen feature. In my book that’s a huge hit to the watch usability.
I remember the time when Suunto advertised “connected family with Ambit3”. Well it’s not that “conneccted” anymore. More like “mostly cable connected to computer family with Ambit3” now.
Hardware is still great, that was never the problem. But it’s significantly worse device now it’s feature list has shrunk.

Well technically … even through a cable it’s still “connected”
