Ambit 3 Peak Route Support for Suunto App
-
@André-Faria It’s Coros, that’s why I wrote only 2 brands with “mature” environment. Web is missing for Coros. But when you see how fast they had making a consistent approach with their watches, how fast the app is evolving, the real new ideas (rotating button, track mode program which seems to be dramatically accurate, according to tests), and the overall hardware quality… Add to this the capacity to include news functions to all models (except Pace because REAL hardware limitations) and a good price for sapphire/titanium…
I will not be surprised if in future a basic website will be proposed. They are weak for routes, but they know it. They done many more when in the same time Suunto is unable to achieve is digital transition with incomplete app, stopped website, frustrated users with removed features and many more

On my side, as Ambit user, I don’t trully need an website, and understand why suunto closes Movescount.
The only part is failling is that movescount was more than an analysis website…it had apps for ambits, it was the way to manage settings, to upload routes.
If that is integrated on the app, ok for me, I will then analyse my training on other platform and draw routes on other platform.
In fact it is the reallity for Suunto 9 users if I am not mistaken. But not for Ambit 3 users.
If suunto app allowed me to change settings, structured workouts (like movescount app), upload gpx, manage POIs, manage apps, that would be enough for me.
But it won’t happen I believe. I think they will “force” to update to 9 to have this newer experience, and then people will get used and they will save money on maintaining movescount. -

You are right, the experience for S series users and Ambit users seems very different.

I would be happy with that also…But with addition of using HRM,and other pods in the app like you can with movescount app…

That would really be the transition. What we now have in reality is significant degradation not caused by hardware not being able to withstand the requirements by new platform, but purely by Suunto management decision.

As the matter of fact… and correct me if I’m wrong, I think this kind of brutal degradation of quality of service and reduction of features of a watch has yet to be seen by any other sport watch manufacturer. At least of those that didn’t go out of business or stopped selling the watch years ago. (remember that Ambit3 is still being sold by Suunto and they only few days ago removed some of the now missing features from specs sheet on their website). Suunto certainly raised the bar here for unfair treatment of their customers.

I think as Ambit users we are all agree with you. We only want why we paid for. Even with no new app and stuck with the old app (which is very slow but works).

They have shown that Profit is more important… It actually offends me they are offering Ambit users offers on their newer watches…To me it shows that they are killing off devices to try and force us to ungrade.thus increasing their profits
-
@lohtse This kind of offers has been there in all the brands, maybe not Garmin but definitely lots of brands.
As an example, I own a Sigma Rox 10.0 as bike GPS, it was launched around 2014, last year Sigma send to customers of this model a nice discount if we switch to the newer model the ROX 12.0, I didn’t take the deal and keep my old GPS. I think is good that companies offer better deals to existing customers.

Anyone else got this mail?
-
@Prenj
no… what were the questions? Or was it an empty feedbackfield?
Hope you told them how amazing the ambit peak is with its ambit apps and that it lacks of integration in SA -
If I remember right something about how do I like my watch and would I recommend it with the scale from 0 to 10 and a text box to add some comment. Well you can guess what number they got from me and what I wrote in the comment section
-
@Prenj I got that as logged on via MC App about three months ago. I laughed so hard I closed it by mistake. I did not make a useful contribution to the cause.

That might be it. I went back to movescount app when they postponed its murder.
-
The same here! It appeared again when I logged into Movescount since a couple of months using Suunto App.

Is there any more news from Suunto on this; I’m very much resigned to having lost structured workouts, but is there any possibility Ambit3 users will be able to send routes to their watch without a cable?
As an aside; the forum software told me this thread is ‘old’ and I should consider creating a new one - yet I repeatedly see moderators closing duplicate threads - maybe the forum warning should be disabled?
-
I think @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos has an update on this

That would be cool.

@gábor-tóth or not. Lets wait what February 9 will bring for us.

February 9th, nothing happened. Feel like checking for the millennium bug!
